If Helleson was available, I I can't see Anaheim being interested in either of those players. DeSmith would get waived and they didn't even pursue Dumba. This would be Dach like trade but on lower scale of draft assets like Calgary's first.

Helleson isn't available

Petry doesn't waive to California, that's the ENTIRE REASON Montreal got in on the trade in the first place.

We've got no need for DeSmith, if we decide we want him well claim him off waivers.

I definitely don't think those two stay in MTL very long, but that's a horrible trade for ANA... they have no reason to do this.

Petry to FLA is really the only thing that makes sense to me right now

I doubt that Petry is any more willing to come to Southern California than he was to go to Northern California, and we wouldn't trade Helleson for him in any event.

DeSmith is unnecessary at any cost above a waiver wire pickup.

Petry & DeSmith can stay imo. Allen & Armia can go though.

I get they have injuries but with Ekblad, Montour, Mahura, Zadorov they seems pretty deep to me to not add a veteran for 2 years.

IMO Petry would fit nicely in Columbus new blue line:

Werensky-Severson
Provorov-Petry
Gudbranson-Peeke/Boqvist (he's terrible defensely and rumored to be on the trading block)

They also have capspace and are close to Michigan.

Between Severaon, Provorov, and Gudbrandon, I don't think they're looking to add another veteran D.

CBJ could be a good one. But Zadorov is on CGY unless you meant someone else? I think hed be fine on the 3rd pair there. Ekblad is always hurt it seems, they could use someone on the 3rd pair that can jump up
