Minor quibble, but you're not getting 2 picks for Wideman. He'll probably be on waivers at some point so some team giving up a 7th or a meh prospect at the deadline seems about right just to add depth.

Petry isn't waiving for Edmonton, And they're on his 15 team no trade list.

And Patrick Kane isn't signing with one of the worst teams in hockey, And giving him $10,000,000 when he's going to miss half of the season is ludicrous.

Again how hard is it to understand cap space. Devils have 1.9m in cap space and Dvorak has what a 4.45m cap, Make no sense why the devils do this. Also why are we afraid to give Holtz chance since last year there wasnt really a chance cuz of how good the team was playing. Clowns man, first they say "give the youngster a chance" next min they panic trade for a player who will take a youngster spot, like wtf what up your mind, plus the Devils need size not dudes who can score 30+pts when they already have 3lines who can do that just fine.

Seriously though, Petry's play v Elites fell off a cliff last year. He's 35 so it's understandable, but let's not pretend he's still a high-end 2nd pairing guy anymore.

Ceci was injured most of last year, with that he still played well. It wouldn't help us right now as we need to add RHD and this is more so just a lateral move.
If we could get Petry for another price I'm sure it'd be fine, just need to figure out the cap space.

Ceci has been top-4 on every team he's ever played for. Over the past 2 years he's played 1st pairing, and not only that he's been fed among the hardest minutes of any defenseman in the league. I think there's only 3 or 4 guys that had harder deployment than Ceci. And yet he posted a 51.55 xGF% over that span.

Among 128 defensemen to play at least 2000 minutes at 5v5 over the past 2 years (basically 4 per team), Ceci's xGA/60 ranks 64th - exactly the median - despite receiving harder deployment than all but a handful of them.

He's not a killer shutdown defenseman, but he's playing the role and keeping his head above water. For just $3.2M, we'll keep him.

Only team that would want DVO is the Canucks. His Old coach and a gaping hole at 3C. But they have no cap space. Even Dvo retained is a lot for them
