My Leafs 2023-24

Initial Creation Date: Aug. 14, 2023

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Buffalos full of goaltenders I think they could afford to move one. Whether RObertson and a 3rd is enough im not sure. but even if you have to give up more. Jones is being claimed off waivers so theyre going to need waiver exempt goalie come season start.

I know alot of people are high on Liljgren , however I just dont see him starting this season with the leafs I really dont. I truely believe he will be one of the players moved to make room for the "Snot" Treliving talks about. This move makes sense for calgary as well as they are looking to get more offensive. they get more depth and a more offensive defenceman.

I like Bortuzzo as he is a solid defender who has won a cup. Would be a solid 3rd pairing defender. Whether Timmins and a pick is enough i dont know. I would think it would be more then enough.

Signing of Motte I would like the energy he would bring to the 4th line. I truely believe he and Holmberg would be a perfect duo together.

Also Levi is the last goalie they trade. Every othet goalie would be traded before Levi is.

I was honest I didnt know the value of Levi. I was just going by his stats, hes a 21 year old goltender with an average start to his career. Honestly if Toronto has to give up much more then that i say go try and get Wolf with a couple firsts or something.

If you call being the back to back Mike Richter award winner, beating Carey Price’s record at the World Juniors for save percentage, and making the Olympics before turning 21 average i don’t know what to tell you man.

It would take a lot more than two late firsts to get Wolf

ok he has more potential then I thought then. What does a team have to give up to get him IF he was available... not saying he is ... As you all are saying hes untouchable... Would a 1st and Liljgren get the job done?

Or would be be more like Minten and a 1st? or two firsts and minten... i dont know... just curoious

He’s seen as our “franchise goalie of the future”
And the future could be more like “now” as he’s gonna get a shot to start this season

He’s basically untouchable,
and there’s zero chance we trade him

Only way i could see the Sabres considering moving him,
would be as part of a package for a young stud goalie

Something like Levi + for Shesterkin (not that that is gonna happen)

I don’t see any way at all he’d be traded to the Leafs

Wolf, Levi, wallstedt, cossa, askarov- I think that's all of them. That's the prospects that are pegged to be high end goalies. I dont think these guys are available for anything you'd be willing to give up. Better off trying the next shelf down, a guy like upl from buffalo for instance, he's further along the development curve, and his numbers are probably artificially lower than they should be because the Sabres were extremely poor defensively. Lehner and ullmark have already shown that you can take a goalie from buffalo and have success putting them behind a better defense.
