Why would Edmonton do that? They don't need more cap space.

Campbells sv%
18-19: .928
19-20: .904
20-21: .921
21-22: .914
22-23: .888

Spot the anomaly. I don't think it's reasonable to suggest he's "awful and won't get better with age", especially considering he's only 31. The Oilers will give him another season to settle in, but don't be surprised if he bounces back to his career average of .910.

I totally understand that he's not moveable right now due to risk, but to suggest that the Oilers would pay their TWO top prospects + a 1st to move a goalie who posted a 21-9-4 record for them last year is ludicrous. They don't need the cap space, therefore they have no motivation to overpay.

And have the temerity to entitle this garbage "helping Edmonton"!!

Holland is looking at the possibility to move Campbell. They still need to sign Bouchard and they have other holes to file. Clearing that 5M for the next 4 years would be huge for them. And they have a lot of faith in Skinner.Montreal would be getting a first and top prospect Bourgault. Add Lavoie too. It’s not like they will be competing anytime soon. When Campbell deal is going to end the competing window for MTL will open.

You should know that it cost something to move 5M FOR THE NEXT 4 years without retention. If the Habs got a 1ST to take on Monahan’s deal last year at 6M then it’s really fair. And since when Lavoie is their top prospect??

If he’s ass at the deadline it’s a move they make. They could swap goalies for someone like Korpisalo like the kings did.

If that’s the price to pay to dump 5M for 4 years, why do Habs fans constantly trade Anderson for a 1st round pick+ or a top prospect+? Because that’s dumping 5.5M for 4 years

You don't understand, he brings grit or something, just ask what's his face, you know, the player he used his grit on that one time!!1!

habs and oilers both dont do this

oilers aren't in any immediate need to dump Campbell, they can wait when his contract is less problematic. Habs dont need to take on that contract in any scenario.

Habs are only a couple years away from wanting to compete, they won’t take 4 years of a cap dump, a team like Anaheim would be way more likely to do a deal like this if they end moving Gibson. Also I don’t think Edm would have to move quite this many assets to dump Campbell as Campbell only had one bad year(albeit really bad).

The buyout is far more palatable than giving up two of their top prospects and a 1st.

Clearly haven’t watched him play once. If you didn’t watch him play then you shouldn’t talk.

You totally just made that up. It's not even remotely true.

They still need to sign Bouchard and they have other holes to file.

They have enough cap space to sign Bouchard to a 2-year deal and they don't have any significant other holes to "file".

They don't need the cap space now, and they can easily buy out Campbell next summer if they want the cap space then. They won't spend their two best prospects plus a 1st to move him.

No comment related to that trade proposal, but EDM sure need more cap space. Right now they have 3.4 millions available and Bouchard to sign.

I've seen him play. He's not worth half his salary.

I wouldn't trade Campbell for Josh Anderson 1-for-1. Campbell had ONE bad year out of 5, Anderson had three or four bad years out of the past 5.

Yeah i think your right EDM has no holes to file. They’re going to win a cup with

Nurse Ceci
Ekholm Bouchard
Kulak Desharnais

They can sign him for up to $4.2M today. But I think it'll only take $3.9M.

Capfriendly has some AHLers on Edmonton's NHL roster.

Probably Broberg. But yes, they can win the Cup with that defense. They were close the past 2 years.

3.9 million on a 20 man roster, which clearly isn't a good solution.
