Briere only trades TK if it's an overpayment in my opinion. Contrary to CFACGM he doesn't HAVE to trade him.

I can understand if Konecny returns a bit more than this in a trade, but adding Pinto is ridiculous.

In this trade, Philly is getting a 1st round pick likely between 13-20th overall, a legit #4D in Branny (worth a 2nd), a 20 goal UFA in Kubalik who they can easily get a 2nd for at the deadline, a young nhl ready D in Lassi, and an overpaid bottom 6er in Joseph who has slight negative value.

Saying Ottawa adds a 2nd here is fair, or someone like Boucher (who has ties to Philly). But add Pinto and you still don't think Philly does it? That's bananas.

You could offer me Konecny for 2 more years for Pinto (4 more years of team control) straight up and I probably wouldn't do it.

2 years of team control is terrible because you don’t know if the player will pull a Debrincat. If you wait till next summer you can extend him

Exactly. Maybe I'd do the DET 1st and then a 2026 OTT 2md that turns into a 1st if Konecny re-signs in Ottawa. Then Philly gets 2 1sts for Konecny plus other pieces. And hopefully the 2026 1st is in the mid to late 20s for Ottawa.

Kubalik is a rental. Value isn't there.

But Philly doesn't have to trade TK. You're acting as if they do. Briere doesn't have to accept your offer. TK is young enough to be a part of their rebuild.

Unless PHI gets forced into a corner where they have to trade him, I don't see TK being worth the price to OTT to acquire in a trade. TK is a great top-6 winger, but, honestly, is not worth the price of Pinto. If that is the deal breaker for PHI, then it sounds like this is a trade that simply won't happen. I think this trade is good value-wise for TK as a player but, as folks are saying, PHI doesn't have to trade TK; making his value to the organization inflate the expected trade return. They'll just keep him until an offer comes along that blows their socks off, so unless OTT offers Pinto it isn't going to happen.

Plus Briere is a rookie GM. The last thing he needs is to be taken to the woodshed by a rival GM.

Sens don’t even need Konecny right now. They have 13 players who need PP time and don’t even have cap space.

Lowering the team support quality (players like Brannstrom, Kubalik/Joseph) and good futures (1st, 2nd/Thomson) to make that move would be stupid. Wait next summer, let Tarasenko walk (and Kubalik if he’s still there) and invest on the best forward you could get (which should be 6-7 if they kept Joseph and Brannstrom)

Flyer fans are right... Briere doesn't have to trade Konecny. He can wait as long as he wants.
He can wait until the deadline, hope that Konecny is healthy and that his goal scoring hasn't returned to his 20-21 or 21-22 numbers.
Or that Konecny isn't just one of the many players available at the deadline causing teams to go to their next option if the price is too high.
Or maybe Briere just waits until the summer of '24... when a trade is more complicated by who Konecny would and wouldn't be willing to extend with thereby limiting Briere's options to just 1 or 2 teams.
But I agree... Briere doesn't have to trade Konecny.
