Kinda crazy to think that Canes would trade 70 point 3m Necas and those picks for one year of 7m Nylander.

No they’d retain his rights. If someone were to offer sheet him then the Canes would receive draft pick compensation.

Necas is straight up the more valuable player. Why the f**k would the Canes add this much. Straight up, would need to be rental Nylander + for Necas

Nylander > Necas by a healthy margin - that is the main concern for leafs who are in win now mode. nylander has consistently out produced necas and last year scored 12 more goals ( in total & 5v5) - big difference between 28 (56th place) & 40 (14th place). And add in that nylander is elite at creating scoring chances + zone entry with control - trade would be a massive downgrade for Leafs. Nylander would becone the Canes most dangerous offensive player & Necas would not even make our top 5. No chance leafs consider this trade; to add would be Canes Insane (typical drivel from canes fans)

Would just need to be a 1 for 1 (or 2 for 2) but the only way that happens is if Carolina has a guarantee that Nylander is signing at an AAV of their liking (guessing 9M-9.25Mx7/8). Considering that Nylander currently only wants to play in Toronto, I don't think that's a likely scenario. Better chance that a Pesce+ for Nylander+ maybe Pesce + Teuvo (w/ retention) + propsect for Nylander + Liljegren in a net 0 trade or Pesce + Teuvo (w/ retention) for Nylander + Timmins + 3rd-5th or a prospect.
