I’d highly consider that as a Canuck fan but other cap moves have to happen. Winger logjam only got worse.

Canucks aren’t a fit for an expensive winger

This is weird:

Nuke is very good and you’re trading him for close to nothing. Ok, maybe you don’t trust him given the off-season he’s having and you’re using the cap dump to do something interesting?

Then you follow it up with Kane, a player already in steep decline, at $6.8M for THREE YEARS?! He’ll be 38 when that ends and it’s already an overpay today.

Donskoi missed the entire 2022-2023 season and only had 2 goals in the season immediately prior. If he doesn’t retire, the dude is a PTO candidate. Why is he getting two years of term?

Poolparty is the only one that makes sense here, and even then he’s out for a while getting a major hip surgery. Not sure what his timeline is, but safe to say that he’s a question mark also.

I mean I don't think drinking in the playoffs and leaving the team plus taking a picture with an ak47 is wise.

Why?
And it certainly wouldn't lower his value that much, then you send him to a much more "liberal" city in Vancouver..

Also what @turtlemountain said

Nichuskin is more valuable to us than Kane. Plain and simple.

You think Nuke is the only player that drinks in the playoffs? And we still don't know exactly what happened other than he wasn't arrested or questioned by the police and he wasn't suspended by the team or the league; it was also said that he'd be available for the 2nd round but they didn't get that far. People can fill in the blanks with whatever they like (and they certainly have done that) but he'll be relied on this season to be a key contributor.

Half of the Stars' cup team was ripping heaters in between periods lol. I don't agree with any of the personal choices Val made during the first round, and frankly I was quite disappointed it happened. But if I wanted all of my favorite athletes to be role models I'd be let down on almost every occasion. Just the way it is.

I’d argue that the bigger concern is whether he’s still feeling the aftermath of the cup run. Dude was a warrior through that. Would not be surprised if that has had unintended downstream impacts.

What's wrong with that? Drinking in the playoffs can't be that bad if he's not drinking too much. Of course, I don't endorse it. Leaving the team is his business. Besides, every player goes home for some time in the off-season right? And so he took a pic with a gun...he's proud of the 2nd Ammendment, something they don't have in Russia

OK seriously, none of this should change how he's valued as a hockey player

Thing is, we don't know what happened. It's entirely possible he was dealing with an injury. The Avs are extremely tight-lipped so we wouldn't know but all he has to do is say that's what it was; we wouldn't know if it's true or not and people will believe whatever they want to believe.

I think that's the most likely explanation - he probably played hurt the entire season and may have been managing that pain through other means. These guys are human.

Whole team was beat to poop last year. Would not shock me at all. I just have emotional injuries from work and lord knows that's EXACTLY how I deal with those tears of joy

He hid away after a woman was found unconscious on his hotel and didn't play, thats an issue in the playoffs
