I'd like to think that Norris holds a touch higher value than Chytil. So wouldn't make that trade as is from Ottawas point of view.

They save cap. And can easily resign Pinto. Norris has been injured a lot last season while Chytil have taken a big step forward. And yes Norris holds a little more value but also double the cap hit. He is not that much better than Chytil.

Retain half the salary and maybe next offseason BUF considers it.

I said anywhere. Worst case I buyout him next off-season and do not sign Motte and Kane.

Yea, he just has way too much term + AAV.

100 % agree with that! Especially with being this tight to the cap. If we had like 2 m to spare with him on the team I wouldn't care.

I dont think the Lindgren deal is bad value or anything, I just dont know if the sharks are the right partner for it or if we have any reason to give up a potential first this year or next

Sens only need a mil or so this year. They are fine going forward in future years.

As such, trading their 1C/2C is bit of drastic step, I think. They have no need for a 3C (they already have Pinto and Greig, maybe Ostapchuck), or LD (Chabot, Sanderson, Chychrun, Brannstrom, Kleven).

It also makes no sense for them to trade Boucher. They drafted him knowing it would take a few years for him to develop into the player they want him to be. They aren't panicking with him or rushing him. Sens have been patient with their prospect. They expect him to bring physicality to the playoffs. No point in trading him now while his development isn't complete. They'll need players like him in a couple of years.

I don’t know much about Thrun but the reason why Lindgren is so valuable is because he’s literally the only defensive defenseman they have

That 2nd pair would absolutely get caved in by top lines

Yeah those are valid points. But I'd rather keep Norris and gamble on him getting some seasons together without major injuries, instead of prematurely selling somewhat low on him. They should manage to find some sort of solution to be able to resign Pinto, the contract probably won't be all too expensive.

Not a fan of any of these trades. No slight to Chytil but he's not enough to acquire Norris alone, let alone him + a recent 1st round pick, especially with Norris not being for sale.
Trading Lindgren makes us a lot worse in our own end, and there's no point in signing Motte when we already signed a solid 4th line over the offseason.

I honestly think this lineup is worse than the one we have now and it puts is in an even bigger cap crunch in the future.

One of them won rookie of the year in the AHL and put up 35 goals in 66 games as a 22 year old in the NHL. Chytil putting up 45 points is not impressive. Ottawa easily declines. We can save cap in another way.

Sens fans going to Sens fan lol... This guy's throwing Sens fans a glimmer of hope with cap space, get an extra year younger, someone who's actually been to the playoffs and gone deep and a mid prospect for a guy who's never hit 70 games or 60 points despite getting way more opportunity...

A former 35 goal scorer signed longterm for a 3C that put up 45 points (albeit has potential) ALONG with our most recent 1st round pick because it saves cap space? tears of joy
There are way better to save the $1m in cap space we need. Also they're literally 4 months apart in age lmao
Rangers get the better player and the better prospect and you think they decline.

Chytil doesn't get the chance to play PP1 unlike Norris in OTT... That 35 goal season's an outlier compared to 3 points in 8 game and 17 goals in 56 games while being 24 years old and Boucher's a meh prospect... Ott gets younger, saves 4 mill in cap space where they can turn around and sign 2 of Kane/Tatar/Pinto and they don't give up much to be desired... Chytil will excel when he finally isn't stuck to 3rd line and stuck either not on the PP or PP2 as the 2nd/3rd/4rth option

    Rangers don't do this

Norris scored 17 goals in 56 games (25 goal pace) as a 21 year old rookie. Chytil had 8 goals in 42 games at that age in his 3rd full season in the league.
Norris' 35 goals in 66 games season literally represents 50% of his NHL career thus far, but you think that we should go off the season he played 8 games due to injury tears of joy
I like Chytil but he's coming off a season with 61.2% o-zone starts and a PDO of 103.4. He's playing in a favourable role just like Norris.
Both players will get better but one is very very clearly and obviously the better player right now, despite missing a year, and has more potential.

You realize Norris had 2 major shoulder surgeries? Please... name me Chytil's line mates? Now name me Norris line mates?

One is double the cost of the other... Norris isn't close to 2x Chytil despite getting more oppurtinuty... Chytil got more Ozone starts bc he was on the Rangers and the Rangers are better than the Sens...

Norris is making 8 mill while not being an 8 mill player whereas Chitil's making 4 mill and is a 4 mill player... That's why the rangers don't touch this and that's why no team will touch that Norris contract
