Yes reality is that players get traded. Many fans believe their teams assets to hold greater value than other people percieve them to aswell so, your argument is not really an argument at all I would say.
Actually you just agreed with my argument. Lol.
Now let’s take it a step further.
He’s a UFA that is highly unlikely to return to Peg.
Has character issues.
A third of the league is over the cap.
There are 4 teams that currently have enough cap space to take his full cap hit. 1 is Buffalo who has TT and Cozens at top 6 C. 1 is Chicago, neither have much interest. Nash or Ana could be possibilities, neither are in win now mode. There are 4 others that can take 50% of his salary. 1 might consider him.
Good luck finding teams that are willing to give up good young roster players with term, which seems to be the ask, a month before the season when rosters are mostly set.
The cry of, but it’s a late 1st, is always laughable. Teams don’t give away top 10 picks unless desperate.
In other words your leverage is currently nonexistent.
To get the best return you are better off holding out til the deadline which in essence creates a lame duck season. It will also be hard to justify moving him for futures at the deadline if you are in a playoff position.
Personally, I don’t want him at all.
Wish you luck with it. 👍🏻
