I think one important distinction is that Hughes has done this with players who are in the NHL already but underperforming. The one time he made this kind of move was Lehkonen for Barron.

Holtz is too unproven for Hughes IMO.

Fitzgerald has said he thinks Holtz can be a "pillar piece." There is no reason to trade Holtz for this.

As a contender with capspace and a good top 4, NJ has no reason to do this.

Funny people using Harris as one of the main piece but never consider if the other team need a LHD ...

Main piece out there is the 1st round pick. Harris/Ylonen are only depht pieces.

Also, even if NJ dont N-E-E-D a lhd, they would still benefit having a battle for a spot (Bahl vs Harris)

Then you are extremely underrating Jordan Harris if you consider him a depth piece
And they already have their battle with Bahl & B.Smith

As good as Harris is, he's not worth more than a 1st round pick, making him the middle asset of that trade

Why would Devils down grade their roster? Holtz is still on ELC. I get why a rebuilding team like the Habs would want a young sniper like Holtz. But unless he is moved to upgrade a player, doesn’t make sense for NJ.

Devils aren't doing that for a downgrade from Bahl and a pick 2 years away (meaning the player is 5 years away)

Adam Boqvist (CLB) is probably more the type of underperforming player Kent Hughes would target

Harris >> Bahl
Ylönen > Holtz right now but Holtz has a better ceiling

Bahl is going to play top-4 for contender. Both Harris and Xhekaj would be in AHL.

You are just bias then
I wouldn’t say Xhekaj is better tho
But Harris is clearly better
