What pending UFA has ever returned 2 1sts, a good 2nd/3rd line C, and a good top 4 dman? I can tell you for sure that Nylander won’t

Why would COL do that?

Good then we won’t trade him, plus I wouldn’t trade him for the main piece being a defender

Because Francouz is injured likely to be on LTIR long enough Colorado is going to need a good backup and a 3rd is a bargain price for Vladar. Calgary sells a little low on him because it both opens a roster spot for Dustin Wolf and opens up enough cap space to call up two prospects. Wolf and I picked Zary for the other but it could be another prospect. Actually they could call up 3 for a full 23 man roster but I left one spot open to accrue cap space for the deadline.

If Francouz is out long term (which seems likely if they are shopping for a goalie) then they should absolutely take this

No they shouldn’t they can just bring up Annunen. He had adductor surgery in the off season and isn’t ready for the start of the season. Considering what they traded for Georgiev to be the starter there isn’t a prayer they pay what’s above. Heck they played over half a season with Jonas Johansson as the back up. The plus of Annunen though is he is waiver exempt COL has no back to back games until late November which gives Francousz over 2 more months to recover and not force them to use cap space they need if they want to make a move near the deadline. And I mean it’s not like there aren’t guys still out there unsigned or guys that can be claimed because of the schedule I wouldn’t expect the back to play more than a handful of games. Just not worth it.

No he isn’t you are just making that up he had adductor surgery in May and just isn’t ready for the start of the season, he was on the ice for the captains practice but didn’t take shots.

I made nothing up. It's all over the place that Colorado is looking at trading for a goalie.

If this was a short term issue with Francouz then yes, just play Annunen. But considering they are shopping instead heavily implies that Francouz might miss most, if not all of the season

The reality is "exploring the goalie market" could mean a trade or it could mean looking at free agents. The one avalanche outlet (Evan Rawal), says they are "looking at the market". It then makes sense that other teams will start thinking about trades for their goalies. If the Avs do end up making a trade like this, it does mean the season (and Avalanche career) of Frankie is likely over. But, they could also just try to sign a Halak off the street for minimum and ride that. Or roll with Annunen.

Not bad but not enough for Pinto. Coronato + 2nd would do it for me

Coronato is one guy the Flames definitely won't be trading for Pinto. Not straight up and not if Ottawa adds either. We'll keep the best right right shot prospect and the only one with potential to be a true sniper that we've had in a long time.

Coronato is pretty much untouchable for now unless it's a part of a package for a player like Nylander (with an extension) or a comparable right shot forward.

This is a valid reason for me as I also do not want to trade young players for older ones in general

That said, Pinto is only 2 years older and already proven in the NHL with a very high floor and nicely projectable upside

But I can understand why you would not want to move Coronato. Same as for me not wanting to move Pinto for Zary + 3rd
