You may be right. Might have to add a high end prospect or draft pick to even it out a bit on 2nd look. Thanks!!

Canes pass. They wouldn't move Jarvis for 9 years of Meier. One year of Nylander ain't getting him.

I wouldn’t want to trade him either unless the return greatly improves our D!

I forgot to add it would be a sign and trade for Willy. Don’t blame the Canes for not wanting to do that without an extension in place. Can’t see why Willy wouldn’t want to sign there. Been contenders for a while.👍

Then this depends on the Nylander extension. Carolina will tend to avoid players signed into their late 30s unless they're getting them at a discount rate, such as Pacioretty for future considerations or Burns for a bag of pucks and he was 1/3rd retained. I still doubt Jarvis would be on the table for Nylander unless Nylanders deal is like 7 million over 7 years and WAY below market value. He's way too awful defensively to be given a top line role in a Rod system. Nylander just doesn't work in Carolina for so many different reasons.

I figure if anyone can make him into a good two forward, Rod could. His offensive upside could put Carolina over the top. Well…. Conference finals until they lose to the Leafs. Lol🍻

Ya because 8.8M to 9.25M will make the difference in the Leafs cap. Go troll other peoples posts Dustin.

Wow that trade is really awful for Columbus, no chance they consider that.

His defensive issues are so glaring though. That's a major step backwards on the top line in the most important part of what they do. People seem to not realize, it's Jarvis that plays with Aho. Not Necas. Jarvis straight up has the potential to be better than Nylander. I just cannot see any reason for the Canes to do this. And I just don't see the fit with Nylander in Raleigh. Rod prioritizes defense. He always has. Carolina as a team has had players that weren't good defensively. Erik Haula, Ryan Dzingel... they all ended up being dealt away or in the press box. Necas is the exception right now, but he's also still really raw. Nylander as a pending UFA, defensive liability, and asking for almost double his value in a deal seems like everything the Canes will avoid

I’d say the Leafs should add a top prospect in Minten or Niemela to make it fair. I think Knies has a lot more offensive upside than Marchenko does. IMO adding Jiricek and Niemela to the trade makes it somewhat fair.

TOR doesn't have any "high-end" prospects that would warrant this type of trade from CBJ. Jiricek and Marchenko are both future (if not current) top-line players already; Jiricek just finished one of the most productive AHL season for a U20 player ever.

Knies is still running on potential, whereas Marchenko is already a proven 20-goal scorer as a rookie. Brodie is solid, but can't really say he moves much of a needle considering CBJ already traded (and paid) for Severson and Provorov to play higher in the lineup. Frankly, you could throw a few 1sts in this trade, and CBJ would still probably say no.

The only player that could get you Jiricek is AM. Marchenko has already proven his offensive upside, where Knies hasnt.

The day Jarvis becomes a 40g, back to back 80pt player is the day hell freezes and pigs start flying over my house.
