I would do that Sabres trade,
and i think we’d do that in real life too

Maybe even give a bit more if he’s having a good season

It will be interesting if the Jets are in a playoff race and then give up on it with trades.

Let's be real here, no one is waiving their NTC to go to Winnipeg.

Namestnikov did last season. Even re-signed this season for two more.

All are a no from Winnipeg, except maybe the Dillon trade.

Not enough to dump Vanacek on the Jets and return Helly.

Ullmark isn't waiving for Winnipeg and the Jets aren't retaining on Scheifele and taking 3 years of Coyle's awful contract, especially if they aren't paid to take him. It's safe to say the Jets won't be looking to get older and worse when trading Scheifele.

They have no reason to give Stanley away for nothing.

No need for Comrie.

They should get more of trading NN with retention.

Sabres do accept that, if it comes for trading for goalie at the deadline

Schmitt did it as well. They are definitely on the majority of players NT lists, but it does happen

Doubt Boston will give up Ullmark and a 1st+ for Scheif.

We can trade it, it just has to be conditional. I wouldn't mind this price to rent Hellebuyck

Vanecek isn't a cap dump, and on this roster you're not even keeping him

No, not necessarily a cap dump, just an undesirable player with a bad contract. If anything, he takes away value from the trade, so that needs to be accounted for which it wasn't. The OP is adding him to the deal as if he is a desirable piece.

How is his contract bad? He's a perfectly average goalie making just under the average salary, and he only has one year left after this anyway

Bad as in undesirable. If you like his contract, the Devils are free to hang into him. He adds no value in a trade with Winnipeg.

He adds value in that if you're trading Hellebuyck you need a goalie, and if you're trading Hellebuyck you should have plenty of cap to accommodate him. Would you rather just play fringe goalies?

Personally, I would just to finish out the season. The overall crux of it is that trading Vanacek helps NJ more than it does Winnipeg. So, that being true, he adds no value for Winnipeg and NJ should be paying Winnipeg for the Jets helping them with their cap.

With deadline cap scaling it may not be a problem to keep Vanecek. I figure there will be other teams willing to pay for him too.

How much would WINNIPEG have to pay to get a guy of Vanacek's caliber??

Korpisalo got 4 AAV
Anderson got the same as vanacek
old ass varlamov got 2.75
Jarry got 5.4
Adin Hill got 5

And nobody wants to play in winnipeg, so add another 500-1 mill onto each of those guys to get them to sign in winnipeg
