He was drafted 16th overall and his D+1 year was lacklustre to say the least. It's become evident that he was a player taken too high given his skillset and how he's performed thus far. He still has potential but he's not an elite caliber player

I guess what I’m saying is; if he hasn’t played a professional game yet what’s the barometer for underperforming? I’m not sure that a down year his last year in the OHL equates to drafted too high or underperforming. If he goes to Hartford this year and puts up 20 points we can have another conversation but to call the kid a bust based off of where he was drafted and… zero professional games, is a reach.

The rate at which he was scoring prior to being drafted was significantly higher than his D+1 year, and his underlying metrics weren't all that great either. I didn't call Othmann a bust, I said he was drafted too high. I also said he had potential, but not elite level. Again, never calling him a bust.
