My guess is Ottawa specifically asked for the Detroit pick because the Boston pick is top 10 protected and then they have cap space next year to make this cap purge a one year issue

Really? They have 12 better forwards than Kubalik and 6 better D-men than Brannstrom? Looking at line combinations, I see Denis freaking Gurianov on the 2nd line...

That's not how the trade works. It's Detroits option.

So they will likely be giving up the Boston pick

Yeah probably unless Boston falls off a cliff...which I don't see happening.

Branny is better on the RD and we currently have 4 of those.

We just signed Nyquist and Gurianov as middle 6 acquisitions. Nashville won't pay two 2nd's knowing Ottawa has to clear cap and knowing we have a ton of young players more deserving of the spots

I still have no idea how you base yourself to say that RD thing but if true, then Brannstrom is very very valuable and should only be traded for a nice package/player, because he's already quite good on LD

Gurianov plain sucks. Nyquist is 34 now and will most likely continue to fall off a cliff. He's just as bad defensively as Gurianov. Kubalik is a significant upgrade on both.

But I understand not wanting to spend assets. I would say, here's Kubalik, pay a conditional 3rd (would become a 4th if he doesn't play enough games for example), give him top-6 minutes with good players and good PP time and then sell him for 2nd+ at the deadline.

Sens keep Brannstrom and trade him later down the road (to make space for Kleven) or in a separate trade.

Well, IRL you don't really know. I am not pushing for it, I was just telling you a way to make a profit with Kubalik.

I'm sure some teams would jump on it if they could have him for a 3rd or 4th, knowing he'll be worth more at the deadline (or use him as their own rental all season)

It's also funny that you say that like this (those playerS) after I told you that the Sens would then trade Brannstrom in a separate trade lol

Responding to your last quote more in depth since I had class and couldn't do so...

Nashville has a plethora of young players already deserving of the ice time.

On the left side we have: Forsberg, Nyquist, Parssinen (who might be forced to play wing because we have 5 c's), and Trenin.
On the right we have: Tomasino, Evangelista, Sherwood, Gurianov, Smith, and Kemell (who I assume will get games in at some point).

Nyquist did fine on a better team. Posting 10 points in 9 games with Minnisota after the TDL last season.
Nashville will likely be sellers at the TDL. If we acquire Kubalik for a mid round pick, it's unlikely a team jumps at the chance to pay MORE than we did if he's scoring at a similar pace. There isn't much profit to be made. It's not worth it. Even if we wanted to retain, we only have one slot left. We need to use it wisely. And we only have so many spots for the plethora of young players we might call up from the system.

As for Brannstrom, there's no space either. 4 current RD and he doesn't bump Lauzon off the 3LD because Lauzon is one of our only 2 thumpers who are physical on the back end, which we need.

Dorion can figure it out on his own without Nashville's help, and i don't think teams are going to be jumping at the chance to help them clear cap. It was even reported the Flyers wanted Boucher to take Joseph.
