I'd do either of those trades, but both would probably deplete our defensive depth too much. Of the two, I'd rather trade Bean, but it would be selling low on both considering they're coming off of injury-shortened seasons.

Hawks decline. Last thing the Hawks need is another left shot D.
SociallyHawkward and ChiHawk liked this.

If the hawks wanted another Dman they would've claimed one off waivers.

their depth would still be fine. in this scenario peeke is the #7 and the presumed 8 and 9 would be bjork and christiansen. could also bring berni back to be a call-up candidate or just call up one of the others who got some games (sweezey, knazko, svozil) in an emergency.

I'm not expecting injuries like last season, but we played 14 D-men last year. Next up after that would be Svozil, Sweezy, Knazko, and Bjorkvik-Holm? I'm not sure they, or Bjork, Christiansen and Berni for that matter, are NHL-caliber right now. So we'd be 2 injuries away from non-NHL defensemen getting the call-up? It feels thin for a team that's looking to markedly improve.

Bean's not going anywhere. They already sent Mateychuk back to Moose Jaw. There's nothing in Cleveland better than Bean for 3LD. It's the right side that should be the focus here.
