I think it could be a decent add to play with Dahlin on the top pair

Neither Detroit nor Buffalo do that trade.
Buffalo already have their 1D in Dahlin.
Detroit would
A) probably rather have the younger asset
B) have a huge hole at RD; a hole large enough to not warrant a 1C upgrade from Larkin to Thompson

You are not trading 25 yrs, 90 pts, 1C signed for 6x7mil to any kind of defensemen.

And Sabres just signed, not one, but two franchise level defensemens to long-term deals at big aav.

And you just spend half of cap hit on 6 defensemens.

I get what you are saying about not trading Seider, he’s amazing. The upgrade isn’t from Larkin to Tage though. It would be Copp/Compher to Tage. And that chasm is… well large.
