Garland isn’t a problem, he’s on the first line and makes under 5

His skill isn't a problem. His cap hit and wanting out of Vancouver (lesser) are.

After a year on the first line and the cap going up we will be able to trade him for an asset.

I personally don't have anything against the player, he's a fine middle six option. That said, he won't be playing the entire season on the first line, and will likely fall where he has consistently fallen point wise throughout his career, 40-50 point range.

This is a horribly constructed lineup. Fantilli is not ready for 1C. Laine has been better as a center than he ever has been as a winger in Columbus. Gaudreau has shown to be far better with Marchenko than with Laine. Roslovic has done nothing to deserve a top 6 role and is closer to a scratch. Texier has absolutely earned a top 6 spot. Sillinger is playing as well as he ever has and shouldn't be on the 4th line. Danforth is not an option for being sent down to the AHL, he has absolutely earned a roster spot which is why he got a contract extension. Boone is still a top 6 player on this roster until they bring in another top 6 center or someone in the lineup earns one of those spots.

Neither of those trades are in any way a serious option for the Jackets and there's zero chance they're going to leave themselves with so little cap space with almost $8M in potential ELC bonuses in the lineup. Ridiculous.

First he was on ARI, then he was playing with Sheldon dries (AHLer) and putting up 40-50. I think he will do just fine on the first line

Agreed, we already have 99 problems, we don't need a 100th.

Joseph is a beast defensively and on the PK, plus underrated scoring touch. He's not even 3 years older than Foudy

There's very little chance that Foudy ever becomes as good, particularly defensively

I would HATE to pay to make that swap

My solution : trade Kubalik for whatever pick you can get

Yeah Ottawa says thank you very much

But why? He's going to be 24 y/o soon and hasn't shown much at the NHL level. His metrics aren't even close to Joseph, in pretty much all aspects of the game

Anyway, pretty every passing game it's going to become more and more silly to ask to get paid to take on Joseph. Time will do its thing
