Why did you guys trade Sprong? He looks great for Detroit. Great shot. Plays with an edge.

No from Detroit. Perron/Sprong/Ghost seem like the hired mercenaries if things play out as anticipated this year. I will say I wouldn't mind Sprong sticking around if he keeps this play going all season.

Sharks are so maxed on LD that this is redundant and seems like a waste of a pick.

That is a LOT of cap space for Detroit to eat. Detroit declines.

Detroit laugh and declines, Andrew Copp is going absolutely nowhere.

I don't mind it with out the retention but then we aren't getting a 1st and a 2nd. I don't think there is a way to make both teams happy.

Call me crazy, but where exactly would MP be playing on the Canes roster, since he isn’t beating out any of Slavin, Skjei, or Orlov for LD slots, and I’m pretty sure he doesn’t play his offside either.

Completely redundant move for SJ, I wouldn’t take him for free.

Detroit is not retaining for four years and is not looking to get older.

There's not a real definitive answer. I don't think Sullivan liked him that much - and maybe they didn't think he could develop a consistent NHL game. The talent was there for sure. I personally don't think they gave him enough of a chance. Either way - they traded him for Pettersson - so it ended up being a good trade for the Pens. If they dumped him for nothing(like McCann) then it would definitely look bad.
