Has a bit of speed, plays with a lot of effort. Everything else is probably short of NHL level tbh. Hasn't really improved offensively at all in the NHL.
Probably one of those dime a dozen guys who can be plugged into the 4th line and just kinda be there and give you 8-10 hard fought minutes a night. Costs nothing though, so worth a claim if y'all have a roster spot.

Technically it doesn't cost "nothing". A team claiming him on waivers would need to pay like $50k or whatever to the team that waived him. Not a huge amount, but not nothing.

Pedanticness aside though, his ceiling is probably as a 4th line PKer at this point, but scoring 11 points in 25 games at the tail end of last season suggests he could be a Logan O'Connor type who chips in ~25 points a season.

CBJ have been reluctant to lose him in the past but seems like they didn't feel that he had made enough progress by this preseason to force them to keep him at all costs. Maybe a new start with a team that values skating highly would be beneficial.

Avs may need a replacement for Cogliano next year if Cogliano hangs em up so there's potentially a job there for him, and in the meantime they have cap flexibility due to Francouz being on LTIR so they could afford to give him some rope this year as 13F.

Nothing wrong with adding another one. He matches the Avs identity with his excellent skating so it's possible that he could carve out a role as a 4th liner with the Avs in the Cogliano or O'Connor mould.

It's also not as if the likes of Ben Meyers, Kiviranta, et al are adding much either, so adding another depth guy who actually fits the style well wouldn't hurt.

I’m just being a **** lol. I’m always down for an upside waiver claim.

That said, both Foudys play a really similar style with similar limitations. I feel like a claim for Liam wouldn’t bode well for JL.

Yeah I thought the same when I first saw the idea of the Avs claiming Liam being suggested (on Hfboards). They'd essentially be competing for the same job and as you say they're very similar. JF probably has more upside offensively and is better on the puck, especially with playmaking, but Liam might be a better fit for a 4th line energy role. Not a lot in it really.

I guess an upside for them both is that they'd both be living in or around Denver regardless of whether either gets called up to the NHL, given the proximity of the AHL team and the NHL team.

Unfortunately for Foudy, I don't think too many GM's are gonna make a claim on any member of the 2018 team Canada players who aren't already NHL players until the results of the investigation are released and the guilty are ousted. Not saying that Foudy had anything to do with it but as of right now they are all fruit of a poisonous tree. It's one of the reasons that Comtois isn't signed yet

I’d give it a shot even if it is a bit gimmicky if he could face off I would be totally sold, but give it 10 games.

I remember seeing Foudy playing for the London Knights. Thought he "had it" to be an NHLer.....and liked the pick for CBJ. For some reason, he just hasn't made the transition to pro hockey.

He didn't even play all that well then to be completely honest. He scored a big goal against Toronto cause of HORRIBLE misplays by Holl and Andersen. He didn't do anything poorly outside of that, but was completely unspectacular and just a guy out there.

Wrong. That's just brutal. You obviously never watched that series.

Or I just remember it better. Acting like Foudy did anything remotely special during the bubble is just wrong and the superiority complex makes it extremely cringe.
