OTT

OTT
This is what the gameplan should be for forfeiting a 1st from the Dadonov situation:

    We forfeit the 2026 1st unless ...

We win the division in 2024 or 2025 ...

    OR ...

By the time of the draft lottery in 2024 or 2025, we are favoured to make the Conference Finals.

    Bryan Murray.

Although it feels like ages ago, he was someone that Ottawa should be proud of.

For instance, the Conference Final run in 2017 was done with a team that he built and that Dorion inherited.

As a Devils fan, I am proud of Tom Fitzgerald…(also Billy Guerin, Pat Verbeek, Lou Lamoriello)

Who are the candidates for Ottawa? Will be hard to find a good one mid-season…should aim for Ryan Hardy or Eric Tulsky in off-season.

Names that have surfaced in the rumor mill so far include Peter Chiarelli and Mathieu Darche.

Chiarelli…good at ripping off the leafs…sub-optimal elsewhere.

Cheveldayoff has been okay but he's really just a yes man for Chipman, its crazy how out of touch Chipman is yet he's probably the NHL owner thats closest to his fanbase.

I hope Sens fans are really loud on social media over this Dadonov fiasco, the league needs to hear how wrong they are over this, it shouldn't all be hung on Dorian.

Absolutely bull**** that Ottawa has to forfeit a first rounder for this but Chicago doesn’t for the Kyle Beach incident. Like what!! Seems wrong to me. And this is coming for a golden knights fan

It's going to be funny seeing Chiarelli be the next GM for the Sens.

    Bryan Murray.

The 2 moves Murray got mostly bashed for was Spezza and Bishop

But Spezza was aging and had back problems, plus nixed a trade to Nashville. He was going to need a new contract that would make him overpaid and that's exactly what happened. Sens got Chiasson (who had good potential), Nick Paul and a 2nd in return, not the disaster some painted. Maybe if the fanbase didn't massively scapegoated Spezza, he would have not asked for a trade... duh

Bishop returned Conacher and a pick BEFORE he made his mark in the NHL. Sens got Bishop for just a 2nd in the first place, so hardly a crippling trade tree.

Opposedly, he did A LOT of good moves for the Sens (Methot, MacArthur, Gonchar, Kovalev, Ruutu, Anderson, Karlsson, trades, signins and draft in general, etc). He rebuilt the team on the fly, they made the playoffs in 5/9 seasons and won 3 rounds (2016-17 was Murray's team)

I remember the day he made the Phaneuf trade. What a move. Two veteran GM's making a massive 9 player deal that benefited both teams. It was botched by Dorion eventually by choosing not to protect Meth over Ceci... and then Ceci for Zaitsev and Connor Brown... and then CB for a 2nd... and then Zaitsev and a 2nd for future considerations...

Sigh... you and I have had some disagreements about Dorion... but looking back... Dorion never got this team over the hump. Call it Melnyk, call it bad injury luck... but there were a lot more questionable moves than good ones.

Frankly I don't remember about our disagreements on Dorion lol. I argue about the content but don't hold it against the poster, well except for the few tools there is on this website...

If you want to see the list of "questionnable moves" (that's putting it very lightly lol), check sensonfire thread :
