Caps decline. Need significant compensation to take on an extra year of Armia's deal.

buyout next year on armia is peanuts, it won't take significant comp for that tbh

Why would the caps do that? They can just wait out this year of Mantha's contract and have NO cap hit next year, nor for the year after if you're buying him out. This trade only benefits the Habs. They get the better player on shorter term and the caps don't need the instant cap relief.

saying either of these players is better is out of touch with reality

Texier is unmovable for non-hockey reasons.

Even if we were willing to move Texier, we wouldn't move him for Jesse Ylonen. There's a very noticeable talent and potential gap there.

Begging MTL fans to stop making this trade. Caps have no interest. Mantha is better and has 1 less year on his deal. Plus they don't need to move him anymore with Backy on LTIR.

Still no need for Caps to do this deal. I'll take 1 year of Mantha over 2 years of Armia, every day of the week.

Who's spent time in the AHL this year and who has been in the NHL so far this season? Who has actual offensive capabilities and who doesn't? Weird how that works. Regardless, this is awful for the caps and your inability to see that showcases truly being "out of touch with reality." 2x3.4 is bigger than 1x5.7.

Yeah agree with the other Caps fans here. Why would the Caps do this deal? No need to now. Plus, with the extra year, Habs would have to add
