I don't think they trade Murphy. He just fits what they need. Plus I don't think Ceci's really been their big problem. I'm not saying he's a Norris Candidate by any means, but it's kinda like Foegele has been playing great lately, but it's hard to say that because the teams doing soo poorly, but it's true. Foegele has been playing great and Ceci hasn't really been their big issue.

Can switch Ceci and Kulak in the trade. They need a shut down D man I would argue.

Hell no from Chicago. Not using both retention slots to take on Campbell. This is TERRIBLE cap/roster management from the Hawks.

Whoa, slow down there cowboy.

It's not just to take on Campbell! We are getting (2) 1sts plus Holloway plus a 3rd and moving assets that are not a part of our future; that is the intent of bringing in both Hall and Mrazek, to move them and neither is going to net a 1st 1/2 retained in return. It's all about using retention slots to gain valuable young players and or picks and that is accomplished here.

If were taking the worst goalie contract in the league were not sending our 3 best trade chips the other way. I'd do campbell holloway and a 1st for mrazek @ 50%. Frankly EDM doesnt even have the futures necessary to dump campbell and acquire all three hawks.

They should be, it's a little light on the return back to Chicago, but trying to be anti-biased here.

Soup + Holloway + 1st = Mrazek 50% yes.

Ceci + 1st + 3rd = Holl (1/2 retained) + Murphy

That 2nd part is pretty fair. Holl 1/2 retained is not worth a 1st and neither is Murphy, but together they get a 1st and 3rd. Both are probably worth 2nd rounds; would you trade (2) 2nd rounders for a 1st and 3rd? Every GM in the league would.

disagree. theres plenty of precedent that hall and murphy would get more than a 2nd if traded this season given their term - just look at the mccabe trade. its about market value and a guy whos never gone below .5 ppg and a RHD that can actually defend are in high demand especially so this season.

Nope....not enough value going back to Hawks...especially Hall at half. I proposed Campbell, Ceci, Bourgault, '24 & '26 1st for Murphy, Mrazek (1/2 retained), LAK 2nd, and a rando forward (Reece Johnson) yesterday.

At full cap hit Murphy isn't getting more then a 2nd right now; that's the biggest difference with the McCabe trade. In this AGM, I wasn't going to retain on Murphy, Hall and Mrazek. That said, Murphy didn't play well last year and is looking so so this year. Some would argue he's paid too much although I think he's cap hit is spot on, BUT that doesn't constitute a 1st rounder and not at his cap hit. If you want to give up Murphy at half retained then he probably nets at best a late 1st.

Hall at $3M might get more but depends on the market for a supporting top 6 LWer. Hard to say, he's going on 32 years old so no spring chicken.

That said, I was purposefully conservative here. Fans overvalue their own players; at least 50% of trades proposed on here for players of "their" team that actually that get moved end up getting less value.
