Did I miss something about Draisaitl being shopped--?

I also STRONGLY doubt the Rangers do anything at the deadline, let alone get Draisaitl lol. They'll wait for next season so they can add pieces without dumping Barclay Goodrow

I still remember when that package couldn't get Patrick Kane on this forum.

You might as well send that Blues package to Edmonton as well since if they trade Draisatl, they are likely going to rebuild.

As an oilers fan I prefer Lindgren and Kakko. Both of them fill needs which Edmonton desperately lacks, a middle six winger who can defend and a stay at home defensive d-man who can compliment Bouchard perfectly. Scheider would just be behind Bouch seems to be more of a TWD over a DFD, Laf is a purely offensive piece which Edmonton is fine on. Kakko plays a much more well rounded game.

Eh I wouldn't be so sure, Edmontons roster can compete probably just as well with this package as they did with Drai. The 1sts allow them to dump Campbell without ridding them of draft capital, Kakko slides well into the middle 6 and Lindgren is exactly what Edmonton needs in that top 4.

What does in your mind?

For me it's:
Miller or Lindgren
Kakko or Laf
2 1sts
one of the rangers top prospects

I prefer Lindgren and Kakko over Laf and Miller (For edmontons needs and system, Miller is better than Lindgren but Lindgren works better in Edmonton)

We’ve got Mika, Chytil and Trocheck. Genuinely curious why Draisatl is needed?

that was never a thing lol. Kane also forced his way to NY, Drai has shown no reason to do so.

Certainly fair to view it that way. However, my aim with such a trade wouldn't be to find someone to play with Bouchard but instead to eventually play "ahead" of him (as in, to take on harder matchups). Further, Schneider comes with much more team control while projecting to end up as a Lindgren-level Dman anyway. Further, as Lindgren will be a UFA after his next contract and has been virtually inseparable from Fox, I'm not confident EDM could get him to sign long-term. Lastly, a LD partner for Bouch is something that I view as much easier to find via both FA and trade than a young & talented RD (whether two-way or defensive in leaning).

As for Laf over Kakko, I would love to be able to trust the organisation and its fans to maintain their faith in & deployment of a defensive W in the mold of Kakko but I don't. As such, I'd opt to target the more 'intense' and offensive of the two- which are traits that I think will be needed after Drai's departure (though Othmann brings some of that, as well). I genuinely don't think the defensive issues of the team are due to their forward personnel not being plenty capable of playing defense but instead as an issue of systems, buy-in, & D personnel.

It will take a haul but the bigger problem is if you trade him, a top 5 player in the league, you better get better or it is going to piss 97 off. If I’m EDM Kakko and Laf have zero value, the 1st rd picks while nice aren’t going to be top 10 or even lottery picks so that value is mitigated, and what the Rangers have left that EDM would really want are guys NY isn’t going to move in Fox, Shesterkin and Zibanejad. For purely hypothetical reasons though I think EDM’s demand from NY would be Zibs, Perrault, Schneider and at least a 1st rd pick. Is that reasonable 🤷🏻‍♂️, I’m not a fan of either team but I don’t know that either team would do that.

I mean Kane is one thing, Draisitl is a consensus top 5 player in the league and I’m not a fan of either team.

laugh laugh Wow do you really think you're getting a generational player like Leon Draisaitl without giving up high end talent like Fox or other high end pieces? What a joke. Zero chance that this is a winning bid for Drais.

It wasn't a thing in 2023, but it damn sure was in 2021 (along with Jack Eichel, but at least he was actually worth this package) -- and that was WITH all our disclaimers saying if Kane waived his NMC for the Rangers.
