Great return for lily leafs would probably do that but I hope they keep him long term

I just think with how Lagesson and Benoit are playing, with Timmins still in the system, and defensive help coming to the Leafs (possibly both Z and Tanev), it makes Liljegren expendable

I could see a Liljegren trade being similar to the Sandin trade

You clearly haven't seen Liljegren play then. Easily a second pairing defensemen, with potential to being a top pairing defensemen

I like Liljegren but I’m not sure if I’d give a 1st for him. It’s a fair deal though and I could definitely see the Canucks doing it

Canucks pass due to Liliegreens Injury imho to expensive of a price for a guy that soon would be on our 3rd pair

Lily never goes to the 3rd pair again come on man Brodie moves to the left side McCabe goes to the 3rd line timmins 3rd line RD

Honestly, when we traded Sandin last season, I was SHOCKED the Caps gave up a first for him. I was trying to find a similar framework and thought he would be a great addition to the Canucks. He's VERY good defensively

He’s talking about the Canucks not the Leafs. Once Willander comes to the NHL it would likely relegate Liljegren to a 3rd pairing role if we acquired him

The thing with Lilly is he doesn't have an injury history. It was just one freak accident by Marchand. Outside of that, he's always been healthy

That's not what I was saying I was saying he'd be a 3rd pair guy in Vancouver soon enough, we wouldn't get enough 2nd paring minutes from him to justify the cost imho

Yeah I’ve been a fan of him since he was drafted. Not sure if we’d want to pay that high of a price with Willander in the system and Hronek already locked into a top 4 spot though, I think a cheaper veteran stopgap might be more likely

Sure, but he's going to miss Significant time this year which really doesn't help us, by the time he's back to game shape and fully healthy there's a solid chance that Willander will be fighting with him for minutes, values fine here the timing would just be off for Vancouver

Leafs getting rid of both Liljegren and Sandin in a year would be so boneheaded but also so predictable. As a Sens fan, yes please give up your best young D to keep going after a revolving door of older defensemen

Losing Liljegren makes the team worse, just send down Benoit, or make him part of the Zadorov trade.

Benoit, Lagesson, and with the short stint of Timmins, they all three have been serviceable and quite good

Also, if the Leafs do end up getting a first in a Liljegren trade, I wouldn't mind trying to draft another Knies / Minten / Cowan type forward

Lagesson has been surprisingly good, Benoit not bad, but not at good as Liljegren. Especially when we need good right shot dmen, and Liljegren fits right in the Top 4.

Treliving literally signed Klingberg. He's also the architect for the gem of a situation in Calgary. Treliving hasn't done anything good.

But Vancouver doesn't need that, we have Hronek and just drafted Willander.

Treliving signed Klingberg since both Gudas and Dumba said "no" to the Leafs. I'm sure Kling will be gone once Tre adds both Z and Tanev

I'm still glad calculator boy Dubas is gone. He was the issue in this management group

Looks more like he was the only one keeping Shanahan in check. Treliving is his mouth piece and every decision they have made had been bad

Nope. Every move that was made (outside of Klingberg) was justifiable

Bertuzzi - Will be one of Tre's best additions. Slow start to the regular season but wasn't brought in for the regular season. He will be a difference maker in the playoffs

Domi - Showing positive glimpses of what the third line can be. Much better as a centre than a winger

Reavo - Group was soft, room was quiet. I still think the team is soft, but singing made sense. If Dubas didn't like his Pierre Engvalls, Alex Kerfoots, Andreas Johnson, Denis Malgins, Nic Petans, or Justin Holls, and brought in gritty players, we wouldn't need Reaves

Klingberg - Terrible signing, but will be moved soon. At least Kling wasn't his first choice of defensemen (Gudas, Dumba)

The point sir, is Shanahan has been heavily involved in decisions. And judging by the adds made this off season and all have been underwhelming. Domi is "looking better" but Jarnkrock (a Dubas signing) and Robertson (a Dubas pick) are making that easy. Bertuzzi is fine but that 5.5 million could have been spent better. Same with Klingberg. Dubas did in fact trade Engvall, Malgin and let Petan go. Kerfoot was never a problem so mentioning him is silly.

Shanahan is a joke, Treliving will do what he says and this team isn't as good as it was last year. The only change has been Shanahan getting sensitive and firing the only guy who had real vision in the organization

The value is right/very close. The fit/need are the only arguments to be made. Using Lundkvist and Sandin as the benchmarks for the trade value. You could argue the 4th to be a 3rd or a 5th depending on which side of the deal you’re on but the 1st is undeniable.
