Nylander is arguably better. Currently outscoring him without the benefit of playing with McDavid.

Nylander hasn't hit 90 points once yet. Draisaitl has hit 100 points 4 times. Draisaitl has his own line separate from McDavid most of the time, that's a stupid argument. The only reason they played so much together last year was because of the Powerplay

Draisaitl wouldn't get 100 points away from McDavid and gets the vast majority of his points with McDavid on the ice. 40% of his 5v5 time last season was with McDavid. Over the past few seasons its always around a 3rd of his 5v5 time and all the PP and that's where he gets 75% of his points. He's also average at best defensively, this season below average. Right now, Nylander is playing better. Draisaitl is definitely overrated. Put Nylander with McDavid and he scores 50 goals and 130 points

You mean you don't want to make a trade where the players you get are much worse than the players you're sending out?

Draisaitl is overrated. His claim to fame is points and while he's he's a terrific player, no McDavid and his point totals will plummet. He's not a top 5 player in the world. He's a top 50 player who benefits from McDavid more than anyone else in the world.

So clearly Jarnkrok is the new Kerfoot. We're just gonna have to deal with the constant Janrkrok trade ideas for the next three seasons until he never gets traded?

So he plays less than half of his time with McDavid? 40% is less than half. As for his even strength vs powerplay points, he also gets less than half of his points last season on the powerplay. Of his 128 points last season, 66 were even strength. 62 were powerplay. For McDavids 152 points last year, 82 were even strength. 71 were powerplay. So really, they both benefitted like crazy from the best powerplay in history, and it was that because draisaitl was so effective at taking one-timers from basically the goal line that it went in almost every time.

I'm not arguing that Draisaitl is as good McDavid. Don't get me wrong there; McDavid is the best player in the world by a mile, maybe the most overall skilled player in hockey history. McDavid and Draisaitl is this generations Crosby/Malkin, where both are good enough to drive their own line, but are better together.

So, to put it blunty, Nylander's resume just doesn't add up to Draisaitl's (let's not forget that Drai won the Hart when McDavid was injured half the season). Nylander is a really good player, but he's nowhere near Draisaitl. Nylander has only put up 40 goals one time, and it was exactly 40. Draisaitl put up 50 goals 3 times. Draisaitl has put up 6 seasons with over 40 assists, Nylander only has 3 and never crossed 50. Draisaitl has put up over 50 assists each of the last 5 seasons.

As for the trade itself, why would Edmonton trade a much-needed center with 2 years left at a very team friendly deal for another winger with one year left before becoming very un-team friendly?

I don't hate the leafs. I have issues with the ridiculousness of the Leafs fans on here. HUGE distinction. I'm actually a huge fan of Matthews and have been pulling for the leafs for a while.

Second, I'm not a troll. People like to refer to anyone who challenges them on here, or doesn't jump on with the group-think, as a troll. Especially when they bring valid arguments and valid stats that shoot down their ideas. I never bring empty arguments.

I'm aware people have issues with me on here. I can be abrasive and truly, I don't care. People can say whatever they want about me, but I always provide researched information behind any argument I make.

Ah yes personal insults, I never expected anything less than pettiness from you. Poor guy, you think people on the internet care what you have to say. Spoiler, it's about as irrelevant as your chirps are weak and pointless. Have a great Sunday afternoon.

Whoooo!! Things getting ugly on the ACGM board here! Lovin' it!

@RipNasty both your trade proposals here are homer proposals, which is a common trait of Leafs fans. They tend to overvalue what their players are valued at in the league. That's ok though, those of us who have been here for awhile are used to it.

Nylander is having one hell of a start to the season, however that means his agent is just going to up his ask to $12M/year instead of $10M and if he doesn't get it, then Nylander is going to free agency. I'm guessing that there isn't a team in the NHL who would touch him right now.

I didn't propose anything.

Draisaitl is a good player bo doubt, but so is Nylander and I for one don't think the cost to obtain Draisaitl will ever be worth it. Take him away from McDavid and what is he? Is he better defensively than he is now? No, and he is average at best defensively. Will he score as many points as he does due to playing with the single best player in the world? Absolutely not. There are a lot of good players who would finish 2nd in the scoring race if they played as much with McDavid as Draisaitl does. There is a good pool of guys who I think would out perform Draisaitl if they were in his spot.

That is why I wouldn't pay the price to get him. You'd be paying for what McDavid does for him. And not get McDavid. Yeah he's still be a big impact guy in TO but he won't lead the league in points and never score 50 goals again. Likely wouldn't score 40
