Pulock is a nice target, but the Jets don't have the top 6 depth to be able to give up a top 6 guy for a defenseman. They'd have to work the deal a different way.

we will need to trade a 4th line kid(Barron, Kupari, Gus), a good prospect like Lucius and the MTL 2nd or WPG 1st.

No top 6 player can leave

Jets have chibrikov and lambert who could make a case next year for that ice time and rutger, chaz, barlow and rashevsky that could be top 6 in the future as well trading a forward for a top 2 rhd which is the jets biggest need is massive and should be explored regardless even if they ask for ehlers

Nino can play top six and move up barron as well. Jets could always make a trade for a rental middle six forward as well on the cheaper side think of if JVR got traded last year that type of value/player

I agree, I looked a bit more long term and the depth within the organization at FW and lack thereof on D. Lambert, Chibrokov, Barlow… will fill the void sooner than later. Pulock adds another solid pillar to the core for a long term. The cap is an even swap this season. Ehlers has always felt a bit in te outside with the the way the organization wants to play.

Sets them up well going forward!

Yeah, it's just none of those guys are sure things. So if the Jets move out a top 6 player for a defenseman, it basically just turns the Jets into the Islanders. A team that has great defense, but can't score.

The fact that we’re arguing about a 2RW vs a top pairing RHD is wild.

I’d trade Ehlers for Pulock in a heartbeat. Iafallo, Connor, Scheifele, Vilardi, Perfetti and Nino can makeup the top six just fine.

Jets have a ton of boom or bust prospects that could end up as really good middle six wingers. If they really believe in being a draft and develop team, you take the chance.

Exactly. what will Ehlers next contract look like providing he even wants to stay! Does it start with an 8? I believe Lambert and McGroarty are very good bets to be impact players! If Pulock is available Chevy should not hesitate!

The lineup is still pretty deep throughout and will only improve on PK as well defending at 5on5. Ehlers is heating up a bit now but he currently sits 9th on the team in scoring. It seems... (thus far) they score pretty well without him. Big bad Brad will bring similar elements as Ehlers.

Edit: A Heinola / Demelo 3rd pair will dominate minutes!!

Teams win with impact players on ELCs. If you can upgrade your top pairing RHD by moving a 2nd line winger you do it in a heartbeat. One of the guys on an eLC will make an impact.
