You say no because Connor Bedard is already exceeding expectations with a horrible supporting squad. Additionally, the hawks have $50M in cap space next offseason, multiple draft picks in the first 3 rounds (over the next 3 years), and a pretty deep prospect pool. There's no need to make this trade from Chicago's point of view.

Lindros wanted out, the team had no choice.

With the 24 draft, are 2 of the top 4 players equal to Bedard? That is my only thought. The rest is well, magic beans. Bedard is good for business and will be exciting for years to come but could this lead to making a muti championship winning team for years to come?

But look at what the trade did for Quebec/Colorado. Lindros didn't want to play for the owner of the Nordiques, had the sale already been in the works would he have stayed?

Why is Vlasic in this trade?

Lol...at 7MM of dead cap space I think you would need to pay for that family reunion

You'd need to add Eklund as well. Remove Vlasic, then maybe.

Those were different times when a 15M monetary payment meant something as well lol. I think you would look for some proven NHLers in that return (that can still play lol, not Vlasic), as they won't get as many pieces but could go for 3 high-quality pieces (one or two being a top prospect) + 2 picks. I don't think SJ would be the best team for this.

I would go to Anaheim and look to get Zegras + a top-prospect (needs to be someone other than Carlsson, McTavish, and Mintyukov) + Vatrano (or an equivalent roster player) + two top-10 protected 1sts. Don't think Anaheim would give nearly this much but I think this is the closest thing a Lindros-type deal would look like.

If you are doing SJ it would probably be Smith + Hertl + 2025 1st (top 10 protected) + 2026 1st (top 5 protected) + ... Need to leave them this year's 1st.

Sharks would NEVER do this
You trade the 4th OA Smith, the likely 1st OA in 24, plus 2 more 1sts and 2 more 2nds for 1 player. That’s selling the car to pay for gas!!!

I get none of those picks or Smith ever reach Bedard status…. But Smith & Celebrini alone are more valuable to the Sharks than Bedard, and of those other 4 picks I assume at least 2 if not 3 should end up being impactful pieces.

If this team had a Stacked prospect pool and team but needed a superstar I would consider, but the sharks are horrible with 1 quality youngster in the NHL and a couple with some potential and 2 aging stars and one very aged and bad former star (Vlasic) they need lots of high caliber pieces to build with.

It's fun to play with ACGM and stuff and all true fans enjoy this kind of hypothetical but...no. No.

If we are using the hypothetical that Bedard wants out of CHI and purely talking about value, maybe... But that Vlasic dump takes up quite a bit of value.

Bedard is the main piece, I wasn't caring about the cap coming back, it's a hypothetical value for Bedard.

Good thing it's just a fun hypothetcal post for what would Chicago fans do if SJS offered them this package for Bedard.

Yea bottom line is the price to acquire a guy like Bedard destroys the chances for that team to build around him! And any less and Chicago laughs.
