Well, I'm not a fan of CBJ selling low on Laine, but that is a pretty good offer.

You aren’t getting the equivalent of 5+ 1st round picks for Marner

Allvin laughs in your face and hangs up. No chance Vancouver gives up 4 1sts (and our entire future) for Marner. We have too much money tied up in the wings as is, and spent over a year working to clear cap space, eventually sending out Pearson and Beauvillier, with potentially more to come. The last thing Vancouver needs is more wingers, especially expensive ones that basically force us to part with other valuable assets as we won’t be able to afford said players.

CBJ likely doesn't want to use a retention slot for 3 years. Laine probably also doesn't waive his NTC.

"selling high" on marner who is off to the worst start to a season he has had in some time immidietly after his NMC has kicked in and he only has 1 extra year of team control?

seems like trading him right now would be a sell low time. and certainly would not get you the assets you have suggested

He has more points per game than any other season of his career to this point.

So yea a guy who is "slumping" while putting up career numbers who was just a Selke finalist is probably worth a hell of a lot. Oh ya and he's 26.

Marner currently has his worst PPG since his second season. You’re not getting anything close to 5+ 1sts of value for an 11M winger who’s a UFA after next season

Worst over a season. Not worst at this point in the season.
He's always been a very slow starter.

Even then there’s no chance you’re getting that much for a winger who’s got one season after this year left on his contract. It’s an insane ask

There is only one 100 point Selke finalist in his 20s in the league. I think he's worth a lot.

How much would you ask for Pettersson, value is equivalent.

A 100 point Selke caliber Center who’s about to be an RFA is much more valuable than a 100 point Selke caliber winger who’s about to be a UFA. You’re forgetting about positional value

And even then I don’t think Pettersson would return as much as you’re asking for Marner here

He’s on pace for 89 points. Lowest point per game pace since his sophomore year.

most importantly, his NMC just kicked in and he only has 1 year left before he’s going to sign a mega deal. His contractual value is near an all time low, and his on ice play is lagging behind career norms.

Take out willamder, and a 1st and it’s close
