That D core is extremely good. Problem is, they may still miss the playoffs. That forward group is very underwhelming.

Pits need to rebuild or retool.

Defense is currently not the Pens' issue, thankfully. This d-core looks nice, but doesn't address the issues. As you alluded to, we have a scoring issue.

I wonder if you could squeeze anything else in there to help the F group out. Monahan? Parise? Is there a way to keep Rakell and still do this trade, or part of it?

I don't think that package of 'stuff' gets you both Hanifin and Tanev, particularly at 50% retained.

Hanifin is worth at least 1st + 2nd, and may even be worth a touch more if it's with the negotiated extension (8 Years, $60M) - and Tanev is worth what Chiarot returned (Tanev is a significantly better player too), and that was a 1st + 4th.
