No I wouldn't personally, I like Z a lot and slaf has a lot of development to do still but he also stills has a 40+ goal ceiling as well and the Habs have time to develop him

Slaf's potential to grow into a Todd Bertuzzi era PF is more valuable than flashy top 6 skill alone.

I don't like Bertuzzi lol, for that reason I would prefer to use an Iginla comp lol

Zegras has more talent, Slaf is what the Habs need more in the line up.

I hope the Habs draft a player with the skill set of Zegras this draft, Demidov hopefully, but they can't afford to change Slaf out for Zegras in the long term, they just need to add a player like him to their top 6

No, Zegras is a proven NHL star talent, Slaf hasn't shown he should have been taken 1OA yet. Unproven upside is risk, Anaheim would have to be compensated for giving up the known better player today, and Z still has untapped potential as well.

I understand why you wrote it, but Z is not proven or a star. His contract would reflect it. As it turns out, Ducks management had their reservations as well.

Habs point of view, his improvements have been steady and exponential. Sky is the limit as he looks more and more like a dominant player.

LMAO, nice of you to call me a kid but I haven't been a kid in over 30 years lol.

I just don't like Bert cause he was a dirty player that deserved to be ran out if the league for his attack on Moore. You can't tell me that that was a hockey play or an unfortunate accident, Bert attacked him from behind and drove him face first into the ice, the results may have been unexpected but not unpredictable. The fact that he was allowed to play again was a stain on the leagues image IMHO, Moore never got to play again, why should Bertuzzi have been able to?!

We though the same thing about Nick Ritchie, and truthfully, that's more what Slaf looks like at the moment. Iginla and the likes of dominant power forwards like him had much larger impacts when they first entered the league. Slaf is on pace for what, 28-30 points this season? Z put up 60+ his freshman and sophomore years. Sky may be the limit, but showing up on the scoreboard to prove why the team went off the board to grab you 1OA needs to happen.

As to Z, he's also still improving. His play away from the puck this season is night and day different than in past seasons, and he's a pretty safe bet for 80-90 point seasons in his prime. If you are Anaheim's front office, and you look at this trade proposal, you don't take it unless Montreal adds a hell of a sweetener.

Slaf will be an NHL player with a lengthy career, of that I have no doubt, but right now it's not clear at all if he's going to be a top line star, or a good middle six piece.

Are you watching Habs games? Doubt it. There is a reason Habs fans here wouldnt make the trade. Using Ritchie as an example is asinine. Have a good evening.

Fine, Jessie Pulljujarvi, Michael Dal Colle, Dylan Strome, Jesperi Kotkaniemi, Kappo Kakko, etc. Hell, even Alex Lafrenier who might break 50 points this season.

Take your pick of big bodies forwards who went in the top 5 over the years who either outright busted or failed to reach stardom. If Slaf doesn't start scoring, he's never going to be an elite forward, no matter how good the rest of his game is.

St-Louis is bringing him along slowly. He's earning his time. Just got on PP1 two games ago.

Anyhow, I get you value your guy and want to keep him. Just be sure to be as rational and realistic with Zegras. He could never score 65 pts again, because Carlsson and McT take the opportunities from him. Good evening.

I think the Habs brass is committed to Slaf but it’d be foolish to not at least consider this. We’ll done.
