Mtl det

Created by: Wingsfannn
Team: 2023-24 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 11, 2023
Published: Dec. 11, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I don’t believe a trade between these two teams will actually happen but I’ve read somewhere they’ve supposedly talked
Trades
DET
  1. Xhekaj, Arber
Additional Details:
I don’t think the habs deal xhekaj but I seen he was sent down to the ahl and I heard the wings and habs were talking and I honestly can’t see anyone else on the habs the wings would be interested in (can’t see Caufield, suzucki, guhle ever being available)
MTL
  1. Berggren, Jonatan
  2. Määttä, Olli
  3. 2024 2nd round pick (DET)
Additional Details:
Habs wings were reportedly in talks and after the mess with Ottawa I’m guessing Yzerman will look to add some toughness but I can’t see anyone else on Mtl he’d be interested in adding even though we’re stacked in our left d prospect pool

Holland drafted Berggren. Yzerman drafted Soderblom. Berggren is more likely to be traded in my opinion.

Okay, that's great. But imo, If Detroit wants Arber, the ask is Elmer.

I don't think Montreal trades Arber.

Neither do I. Although it will be a numbers game soon enough. And, asset management will dictate who stays and goes. Regardless. Soderblom would fill a need in the Habs player archetype. I don't think Harris or Barron can weasel you Soderblom. Arber for Elmer would be a unicorn trade.

Holy overvalue? The original trade is dog**** and you think they should get a younger prospect instead? The guy is a goon and nothing more. Why the hell are you guys overvaluing your AHL D?

Such bad faith to call Xhekaj an AHL D. You know who else is in the AHL? Söderblom. So by your own dumb logic, they got the same value.

As for Xhekaj, name me another 22 year old goon who can also play on the powerplay? I'll wait.

they sent him down to play minutes and work on his offence, not because they gave up on him

Can also play on the PP? So you think Detroit should be trading assets for a goon, and play him on the PP over Seider, Ghost, Walman, and that we shouldn't just call up Edvinsson instead?

Your guy has 16 career points and takes a boat load of penalties. Just because Montreal don't have NHL D that they needed to sign a kid from Costco doesn't mean he's got value just because he played NHL time. We gave you Lindstrom because he didn't fit on our blue line. Now he's playing over Xhekaj and you think we wanna trade assets for him? Get out of here.

Well, I guess we'll keep him. Whomp Whomp.

Now, if only all the other fan bases could stop suggesting trading for him, it would avoid much **** discussions like this.

P.s.: I'm still waiting. you didn't answer my question.

Xhekaj is waiver exempt and coming off an injury. He's also still developing.
Lindstrom is still on the roster because he is not waiver exempt and they don't want to risk losing him at this time (Savard just returned from injury, so his time may be limited).
Montreal not having enough NHL D is innaccurate and a player's draft position (or lack thereof) matters less over time as the player displays their actual potential at the NHL level. Their value changes accordingly.
You can disagree about fit or value without a bunch of ignorant statements.

He's not a PP guy? I answered your question by telling you that he's got 16 career points, Montreal doesn't have an NHL D capable so they just tossed him there, and he was sent down to the AHL. To call him a PP D is comical.

Obviously you've never seen him in junior, at Memorial Cup, or just actually playing in the NHL. Good talk, get lost.

You have no idea about Xhekaj. It's better to just say this. You don't value him, you think he's an AHL goon. Cool.

You think you are informing us about a player. You are only informing us about yourself.

We have 3 goalies like Mtl currently has. 0% chance it’s about the goalie ... the talk could just as easily be Berggren for a pick as boring as it sounds and idiotic if you ask me. Think he’s got really good upside and is a good playmaker and I’d like to keep him. I was just looking at the habs lineup and xhekaj would be the only one that I can see Yzerman having interest in after the sens game

But again wings are stacked at left d with wallinder, buium, viro,Cleveland, johansson I don’t see why we’d need to add another dman unless he’d turn around and deal wallinder
