I think you overestimated the value of all players moving from SJ.

Granlund for instance, ranks 232nd in the NHL at Points per 60, 5v5. Looking at his stats independent of his team, he ranks in the bottom half of the NHL. He could maybe fetch a 5th if someone is desperate.

Points per 60 is a bad stat when used out of context. Granlund plays way more than he should (21 minutes per game) because the Sharks have really poor offensive depth. That’s going to drive his point/60 way down. He’s worth quite a bit more than a 5th.

The Sharks can only retain on one retain on one player, they already have retention on Burns and Karlsson.

Dude has 15 points over his last 9 games and has played exceptionally well! Good on pk and pp and has been solid 5v5, I don’t even know if I’d except anything less than a 1st at this point

But that’s retention for a 1 & 1/2! I would hold off and keep him unless we get a better offer! He’s been good here!

Yea he’s your future top 4 guy. I dont think you’d trade him for anything short of a long term top 4 offensive young RD

Ok. Let's look at his stats the last 2 years 5v5:
Goals per 60: 0.19 this year, 0.35 last year
Points per 60: 1.30 this year, 1.23 last year
Expected Goals per 60: 0.70 this year, 0.53 last year
Shooting %: 3% this year. 8% last year
Corsi: 40% this year, 48% last year
Shooting talent above average: -4% both years

So 5v5 (you know 80% of his ice time) he is worse than last year where he was a salary dump.

How about on the PP? Oh, it seems he has 0 Goals and 4 assists. His Points per 60 there is 3.8 and last year (when everyone said he was trash on the PP) it was... 3.1

Ok the PK. Maybe he's great there...
His On Ice Expected Goals against per 60 is 8.86 which is 139th in the NHL.

So based on the numbers, I'm either being trolled or you are losing grip of reality. I suspect trolled because of bolded text above. The 13 points in his last 9 games represents nearly 70% of his points on the season. Unless someone hires Ron Hextall, no one is paying anything of note for Granlund. They wouldn't last year, they won't this year. Sorry.

Dawg alright whip out the Analytics 101 on me, this is all obviously assuming he plays this well up until the deadline and is around a ppg like he is now. Regardless of all of this, a 5th is laughable

Was i too harsh. My bad (sincerely). Looking at it from that viewpoint, I could see him going for a 2nd if he keeps up the pace he has been on for the last 9 games. It would be Herculean based off his previous numbers but possible. Based on track record, I do not see a 1st.
Time will tell. smile

I would want a first given the fact it would probably late, but not everyone has the same opinions as me which is why I am not a gm xD we can agree to disagree

Fine hate him whatever!
For the sharks the dude has been awesome and is a huge pet of the teams turnaround! Sharks should keep him anyways! And he has never been a goal scorer and I love how you left all the assist anylitics and play driving one’s off your post. Almost like your using biased stats to downgrade a player you want to pick up
On the cheap.

I can understand that but for a late first a team can pick up much better options. Monahan in MTL, Henrique in Ana (with 50% retention), Zucker in Ari, just to name a few. I think if he keeps up this pace, Granlund could be in that conversation but it would be tough to keep up that pace.

I don't hate him. I'm sure he is a nice guy. I'm just saying that with his contract, history, and current play (a recent hot streak not withstanding), he isn't worth a 2nd.

I included both Corsi and Points per 60. Would you like his assists per 60, 5v5? It's 1.12, placing him 117th in the NHL.

His high water mark for points per 60 was 2017 where he was ranked 65th. Since then he hasn't ranked in the top 100, generally being between 150 and 200. For Corsi, he has never been above 52% which would put him at a tie for 99th in the NHL.

Yeah, I'm a Pens fan. They traded Granlund as a cap dump last year when everyone told the fans that it would take a 1st attached to Granlund just to trade him off of their roster. I have no interest in seeing him on any of the teams I like, but especially not the Pens.

Morrow is off the table for any player on the SJ roster. Should have taken him for Meier when that was offered.
