Weegar is a right shot D. Very good. Physical. Puts up points. Signed long term.

He would be a perfect add.

Calgary would still have their 3 retentions spots left for Tanev, Hanifin and Lindholm.

You're right, he would be a wonderful add. Problem is he's surely not available, and definitely not for that offer. That's closer to a Hanifin offer.

Weegar plays 22:15 mins a game this year. Hanifin is playing 23:16 minutes a game this year. So Weegar plays 1 less minute. Weegar is more physical and is a RD. He is also extended. I assume Calgary will try to trade Hanifin with an extension in place but it's not guaranteed. All to say, I assume their values would be quite similar.

This might be a touch short though. I agree there.

For me, Weegar is worth a decent bit more than Hanifin. When Hanifin signs an extension, maybe the gap closes, but I'm concerned someone will give him 7x7 or something. If tha happens, I still think Weegar is worth a fair bit more. Hanifin is very streaky.

Red Wings aren't wasting a retention spot on Reimer. They'll need those 2 spots for when they trade Perron and Ghost.

IDK why people say someone isn't available. Of course if they have a contract limiting where they can go it makes it tougher. There isn't more than 10 guys in the league that are untouchable. Weegar isn't one of them.

Now that Lyon is injured it's the perfect time for the Wings to trade Reimer. Hutchinson should be the perfect goalie to keep us in the playoff hunt.

I like it! Good targets and I think he would fit well on the Leafs blue line. Only thing that scares me is, he is signed until he is 37 and the way he plays, that might be a problem.👍

Even if they are rebuilding, I don't see them doing it without their top 2 D signed. Calgary will never tank or do a full tear down. So unless Hanging is resigned I don't see Weegar being moved anytime soon. LD prospect depth is weak too, so they would need a replacement if he is getting traded.

Calgary doesn't rebuild. Need to learn that first. Calgary is going to do something similar to LA and Dallas. Draft high for 1-2 years, retool the roster around the kids and ho again
