The mythical Nylander comes with an extension 💩 trying to justify a trade NYI doesn't consider. Nylander signed December 1 last time missing 2 months of the season (almost) playing hard ball in negotiations. Yet when he has his first opportunity as a UFA comes up he signs an extension before free agency? Bhahahahahahaha Bhahahahahahaha Bhahahahahahaha.

“step back from that edge my friend”; talk about overreacting. One bad game, chill. Samsonov is a concern and D needs upgrading but lots of time to address and it’s far from panic time. Still in 2nd in Atlantic despite very little going right for the team so far. I sense Nylander deal soon, Woll recovery, Marner waking up, then TDL deals - happy days ahead

Leaf fans (some anyway) do tend to overreact to both good or bad moments 🤷🏻. To me, that’s more of a function of numbers than anything else. Leaf Nation is huge (biggest fan base in league) so no surprise you get some portion of fans flying off the handle. All is well, acknowledging good start by Jets & Canucks, we’re still the best team in Canada

Throw in what to make Jenner available? What about the Islander trade?

Add in at least a 1st for Columbus to stay on the phone. Realistically with retention: 2024 1st, a conditional 2025 2nd that can become a first, and one of Minten/Cowan, plus we'll retain half.

You're asking for a 2C faceoff and goal scoring specialist who can play anywhere in the lineup, at less than $3M per year with two more years left on his deal. Add on that Columbus doesn't want to move him at all, and every other team wants/needs a player like that, and could afford him in the flat-cap era. You're competing with at least 10 other teams for him, all of whom beat that original offer.

Teams don’t trade young Norris caliber right handed defenseman

THey do for Hart Forwards that can play with Mathew Barzel, or they sit in mediocracy unable to score!

Probably not, just because we need quality over quantity. Minten is a high quality prospect, but Columbus already has one of the deepest prospect pools in the league, so players like Timmins (who isn't going to get time over Jiricek or Severson, or Boqvist/Gudbranson/Ceulemans long term) and Robertson (who is good, but likely won't see long-term top-6 minutes over players like Gauedrea, Marchenko, Chinakhov, Johnson, Laine, or even Dumais long-term) don't move the needle as much as they might for other teams.

We've got plenty of darts and depth pieces, so if there's not a 1st involved and a legit shot at a top player to fill Jenner's void, we'd rather just keep Jenner.

Nylander isn’t winning the hart lol.

They score a ton with Dobson on the ice, he is one of the only point per game defenseman in the league
