I really don't care if Merkolov is a solid prospect or not. He is a 23 year old undersized winger that projects as a middle 6 player. Here is Calgary's list of wingers that are all ahead of him in the depth chart (roster and prospects) Huberdeau, Mangiapane, Sharangoch, Dube, Zary, Coleman, Coronato, Pelletier, Honzek, Klapka. You can probably include Pospisil on that list too. He would sit in the same category as someone like Rory Kerins in the Flames winger depth chart

I expect Manson to be moved for a mid pick and B Prospect to clear some cap. Byram would then take the top 4 minutes. Maybe Malinski plays full time next year. That being said Calgary would probably need to take Ryan Johansen if a deal happens. Don’t know how Conroy would feel about this knowing he has 1 more year at 4M. I’d say the trade would be around their 1st this year and Olausson or Foudy.
