TDL Pt1

Created by: Bennecon
Team: 2023-24 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 22, 2023
Published: Dec. 23, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
TOR
  1. Larsson, Adam
  2. 2025 6th round pick (SEA)
Additional Details:
Maybe Seattle does a quick retool. They gets picks and what could be a good young scorer and a puck moving defenceman.

Sammy is there just for salary he has no value but only has the rest for the year so not much of a negative.
SEA
  1. Robertson, Nicholas
  2. Samsonov, Ilya
  3. Timmins, Conor
  4. 2024 1st round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
Similar to the Ekholm deal, a late first and a decent prospect but Toronto doesn’t need the retained salary or a multi year cap dump
2.
TOR
  1. Seeler, Nick
  2. 2024 2nd round pick (CBJ)
Additional Details:
Just my opinion that Lilly is not a Brad type defenceman, he’s not big and he just doesn’t seem to have a job out there. He does not produce points, he’s not physical, he not really someone you want on the PK. The main attraction to him is that he’s still young, cheap, skates well and passes well. For the leafs he just not what they need right now.

Similar to the Sandin trade. Get some picks to either replenish the prospects or to trade them later in a different deal plus a guy to fill the minutes with an actual role.
PHI
  1. Liljegren, Timothy
Additional Details:
Philly adds a Dman the same age as their core with control and some upside. There in a weird spot where they keep winning but no one thought they were good so I really don’t know if they will sell or add but this is an add with the future still in mind.
3.
TOR
  1. Martin, Spencer
Additional Details:
Just add some goalie depth.
CBJ
  1. 2024 7th round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
He was on waivers the trades more so the leaf are guaranteed to get him
4.
TOR
  1. Dickinson, Jason ($1,325,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Leafs get a solid 3rd or 4th liner. He will be better defensively then Robo and still has some offensive value
CHI
  1. 2024 3rd round pick (NYI)
  2. 2026 7th round pick (TOR)
5.
TOR
  1. Smith, Cole
Additional Details:
Physical 4th liner that can actually play
NSH
  1. 2024 5th round pick (TOR)

Nobody’s getting Mr Goal Smith for that price. Try Matthews at minimum

In reality, I just have a hard time seeing the Preds moving him. He’s got good chemistry with Sissons and Trenin and can play both wings on either our 3rd or 4th lines. Sherwood might be a guy you’d like. Plenty physical and has a solid shot

You can make an argument that Philly might give up the #33-36 pick for Liljegren, but not for throwing Seeler in, too.

Hawks decline. A 3rd probably get Dickinson w/ no retention. With half retained, Hawks will get a 2nd from someone.

If Seattle ended up doing a quick retool, the plan would be to return to the playoffs next season and build into a legitimate contender within the next couple of years. In that timeframe, Larsson would still be capable of continuing his high level play, and would thus be a major part of any near future contending Kraken team. He's under team control through next season, and given how well he has meshed with the Kraken since his arrival, I wouldn't be surprised in the least to see him extended. Add all that up, and the impact he would have on the Kraken in the next 1-3 years exceeds what Timmins, Robertson, and the rest of the package on offer would provide. For those reasons I don't see Seattle trading Larsson to the Leafs or anyone else anytime soon. I'm sure they would at least answer the phone from interested parties, but I believe it would take an offer too good to refuse to pry Larsson away from Seattle.

Lily is a good offer, can we barter the 2nd down to a 3rd?
