Mercer would be the missing piece and Guhle could easily be replace by Kiviharju at the draft

OMG. Guhle can not be "easily replaced". No one expected him to be this good this soon. He's one of the rare wins we've gotten by drafting where the player exceeds expectations.

I actually did expect it, after we drafted him I was one of the few people telling other fans to relax he was a great pick, that he would be the Habs best LHD in about 2 years time, his skating was elite as was his decision making. It was the same when we drafted Caufield and now Reinbacher, I just hope Reinbacher continues to prove me right lol.

The Devils wouldn’t move Mercer for Meier. But yes, we’d move him for Allen, Guhle, and Monahan; all guys that won’t be as good as Mercer

Kiviharju is exatcly like Guhle, except a higher potential. Mercer is a superstar.

Not saying he is better, but I wouldn't trade Guhle for Mercer straight up

Jersey says Hell no to that. They're not giving up Mercer for Guhle 1 for 1 since Hughes and Nemec are expected to be game breakers far above Guhle, Casey has a legit shot at a top line Dman who's also above Guhle's potential. Jake Allen has a little value from a need perspective but doesn't have any major value due to his age, recent history, and contract. Monahan has no real value either since he's already peaked, provides about .5 pts/g, and is a rental. So they're essentially trading a probable top 6/line wing who has annual 70+ pt potential for a potential top 4 D man who'd be no4 on the prospect depth chart, an old backup goalie, a rental 3rd liner, and a first rounder next season that's probably in the top half of the draft. The first and Guhle are the only pieces of real value and one adds so much depth that he's never going to see the ice.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. MTL fans stay undefeated with their ice cold takes. Guhle has done nothing in his career so far to justify taking him over Mercer. Mercer had 27 goals last year and 57 points. He plays center and wing, plays PP and PK. Can’t get more versatile than Mercer. You have no #1 dman, no long term solution in goal, no solidified first line players even. Suzuki is a 2C; Caufield is borderline first liner, Slafkovsky has stunk so far let’s be honest, horrible contracts on Gallagher and Anderson. I see that team going nowhere for a long time. Worst part is probably taking Reinbacher over Michkov. Could’ve had Cooley/Nemec over Slafkovsky too

Guhle is a defensive D. Mercer is better offensively. Guhle has been better in his rookie season than Mercer. He has a 30 pts career pace as a second year nhler D. Mercer has a 46 pts career pace…

We don’t have a #1 dman for now, but we have 2 #2. And Hutson is probably going to be a #1. Reinbacher another #2. So in the future, we have at least 2 #2 and 1 #1. Habs future D >>>>>>>> Devils future D

As a Devils fan, you shouldn’t be talking about another team’s bad goaltending… But we have a lot of good goalie prospect, on top of Montembeault and Primeau who are doing great right now.

We don’t have a first line forward, but we will draft him

Suzuki is a very good 2c, Dach too. Newhook is a great second liner. Caufield when healthy is elite.

Slafkovsky is the second best player of his draft class as of now, behind Poitras.

New Jersey ain’t even in a playoffs spot and they have a top 5 player in the world and the best offence in the league… The « going nowhere » team is only 1 pt behind…

Generous chirping considering your team has been so dogwater to the point where they lived off the lottery for the past decade and won one playoff round in the past 13 seasons.

How did the Hawks, Pens, Lightning, Caps get all their stars over the years? They were bad at one point which allowed them to get guys like Kane, Toews, Stamkos, Ovi, Backstrom, etc which eventually lead to them winning Cups. Lots of teams have lottery picks that they don’t develop properly; we haven’t missed on many of our early picks at all lately and our development and scouting staff should be credited. Look at the Rangers; they came away with Kakko and Laf. We easily could’ve taken Patrick and Kakko instead of Hischier and Hughes. We picked the right guys and developed them the right way and it’ll pay off for years to come. You guys took the risky pick at #1 with Slafkovsky and so far it hasn’t paid off. Reinbacher was a horrible pick and there’s no arguing it when Michkov was still sitting there. Should’ve done Nemec/Michkov instead of Slafkovsky/Reinbacher. Will haunt the Habs for a long time. Nemec has looked excellent thus far; playing top pair for us and getting over 20 minutes per night. Gonna be a horse on the blue line long term with Luke
