Description
I’ve got no clue how this trade value would work and I know that Necas hasn’t played center with the Canes since he’s subpar defensively for the canes style but I think it could realistically work and is another interesting option for the avs.

I don’t think Byram for Necas straight up would be the trade just think Necas would be an interesting possibility for our 2C. I’m under the impression he hasn’t played center for the canes as he doesn’t exactly fit their forechecking defensive style that rod wants his centers to be

Byram would be a good 1RD on the Canes and I like the deal because we can sign one of our prospects to replace Necas

Byram plays both sides but he’s actually a Lefty

You have any sniper RW prospects? Even LWers?

Yah... Bradly Nadeau our first round pick from this year has an elite shot and has been tearing up the college level at Maine

I like Byram, but the Canes don’t need any more LHD. Frankly, I highly doubt that the Avs would have any willingness to move Byram, especially if Toews walks via FA.
Both teams likely pass.

That being said, I think the Canes would be interested if Rantanen were available and Necas could be the centerpiece in a package for him.

Ahh... He'd still do great besides Slavin.

thing is carolina is already stacked behind. pesce slavin orlov skjei burns chatfield. they’re missing some punch Infront. don’t get me wrong they’re really talented with players like aho svechnikov jarvis necas kotkaniemi and teravainen but someone like nylander would be really nice. might even need to go after a goalie if andersen isn’t good to go. i still could see them having byram in the sense where they probably can’t afford both skjei and pesce so he could replace one of them. nikishin and morrow coming up so some wise decision to make by waddell. necas also needs an extension and maybe jarvis too but not too sure. so imo carolina passes.

Yeah I’d agree. I think Slavin is the perfect #2 defenseman to a guy like byram with high end offensive abilities. In reality I’m still doubtful we’d trade Byram unless it was for a sure thing 2C this was more a very interesting option for us that if it worked could be a Home run

I agree... Slavin has always done great with an offensively minded D-Man who is at least competent in his own end except Byram would be playing Robin to Slavin's Batman

I don’t think Colorado would be smart to move Byram for a project guy at centre. They’re better off moving Girard in the summer and finding a better option. Straight up Byram has more value than Necas anyways

Toews signed an extension months ago - he’s not leaving via free agency.

A 70-point guy in a system actively hampers him has less value than Byram Bowen... really?

He’s hit 70 points once (barely) and other than that he’s been a 40 point winger and he’s on pace for 60 points this year.. calling him a “70 point winger” is a bit of a stretch.

A young stud defenceman that’s signed to a contract past this season is worth more than a second line winger who needs a new contract in a few months. Any day.

Necas as a center piece for a trade for Rantanen is a joke, the only guy on CAR that gets a Rantanen conversation going is Aho and what’s the point of doing that for CAR.

Necas has been yo-yoed up and down the lineup all year. Who is an RFA... it isn't like he has much of a choice in where he's going

Yes because be a super-star winger demands a top-ten center who is great in all situations

How would Toews leave via free agency unless you're talking in 8 years?

Better be prepared to pony up for Rantanen. Think Necas plus multiple firsts plus!

Let's put it like this. I'd never use him on the right unless I absolutely had to.

Slavin is the one guy in the league imo who would possibly be a better complement D for Makar than Toews. Underrated imo, but Byram wouldn't be the guy to pair with him. Byram will be great (one day) on the left, he's already good. But he's mediocre on the right at best, and I imagine will never be much more than ok-solid when played on the right.

mikko is a top 15 player rn at least who’s gonna give you 40+goals and 100+ points value wise Aho is the only guy that makes sense. Now team need wise it makes zero sense for the canes to ever entertain that. Necas is a second line player it would take a lot more than just him

Is there a playoff or close to playoff team that wouldn't be interested in Rantanen I wonder 😁
