There is no such thing as a fair value deal for Connor McDavid. Edmonton loses any and all trades for him.

I would not trade Jack Hughes for McDavid one for one. Devils decline easily.

It might come to something like this if McDavid says he doesn't want to re-sign in Edmonton and forces their hand.

However, if that were to happen, Ken Holland would (and should) be run out of town and have his Canadian citizenship revoked.

If Edmonton loses the two best players of their respective generations, they should just fold the franchise.

I don't think the Devils would do that at all. Hughes' contract is too good

I'd imagine a McDavid trade would happen if he requested a ticket out of town, and Draisaitl would also want to jump ship. Thus, a rebuild in Edmonton happens, and Edmonton would get a bunch of prospects and picks and not add Skinner and Bouchard to the deal.

This would also cost Jersey half their team. Even with adding McDavid the cost in this doesn't make them better, especially with losing the Hughes brothers

Fair enough. I mean though with how much value McDavid and Drai, could just get a bunch of decent players back and retool

considering that any deal involving mcdavid is a loss, this isn't bad. id ask for a few 1st rders though. and maybe a good goalie prospect.

This is certainly debatable. McDavid really is an incredible player. Better than everyone else. Likely any 2 players.

McDavid is great. But if he picks Jersey, it’s to play with Hughes brothers. He’s not coming for the sunshine.

Well In that case he would be leaving in FA to got there Becuase without the Hughes brothers, there isn’t anything that could get McDavid.

I agree with you. If he gets traded he's picking his team. And the return will be so so so disappointing for Edmonton. They lose that trade by a large margin.

I disagree. If McDavid moves, normal rules will not apply. It will be his decision, not only to leave, but where he wants to play and with whom. A McDavid-to-NJD trade would not likely be initiated by Devils.

And if he wanted to join our humble franchise in NJ, it would probably be to play with our best players, which include Hughes brothers. Otherwise, don’t think he would pick us.

Same probably goes for a lot of franchises.

Exactly. He will pick the franchise, which will hav to come up with the return from mostly off their roster. There are probably only a few that could come up with enough pieces that (a) satisfy a “fair trade” and (b) don’t take away from competitiveness if current club.

(And not sure NJD would be one of them).

Clubs that could probably swing it….

    Anaheim
    Arizona
    Buffalo
    Columbus
    Detroit
    San Jose

None were playoff teams last year.

(Maybe Chicago, Minnesota, Nashville, New Jersey).

Maybe Vancouver if they cannot sign Pettersson.

    It’s really an impossible task.
