I think Tarasenko just gets a late 1st. Brannstrom gets more. Smith is worthless

2. Arizona accepts.

3. Pittsburgh accepts.

He’s not a cap dump but he doesn’t have a lot of value he is just a really poor fit stylistically for the Avs because of his mediocre at best skating.

Who said anything about a C?? Colorado has been linked to some wingers as well. Yes they need a C but they are reportedly looking to go all in this year. They’ve been rumoured to be going after Guentzel. So I figured if they don’t get him Tarasenko is another option who is also cheaper.




Brannstrom I honestly wasn’t sure on his value. Smith is worthless, he’s just a throw in for roster spot.









Johansen is viewed as a cap dump in this deal. 1st + prospect to get $4 million off the books for the next 2 years. And a 2nd rd pick for Tarasenko is how I broke it down. Some can argue Tarasenko should be worth more or less. The debate on Johansen being a cap dump or not is also something to consider. Some say he is, some say he isn’t. There is no right or wrong answer here. All of this is a consideration.

Avs need help at C. I've not really seen the Avs linked to any wingers, they just traded one out for starters. Johansen is a stylistically bad fit that was a bit of a gamble for the Avs. It didn't really pay off. He isn't, however, the pure cap dump some like to make him out to be. The Avs certainly aren't going to pay that to 'dump' him. Tarasenko isn't a guy you go for (nor Guentzel) when you absolutely NEED help at C

That’s some imaginative math, first off it doesn’t get $4M in cap off this year, it gets $2.3M for this year off because all contracts are prorated, second when is a dude who is on pace for 25 goals a cap dump Tarasenko is on pace for 17-20. I’ll give you RyJo’s perceived value isn’t high but damn a team like CHI would take him for future considerations, and the Avs have traded exactly 1 1st rd pick under the current regime not a chance in hell they do this trade.

I understand that for sure. I’m more saying go for Tarasenko over Guentzel as a winger. Chris Johnston was just discussing the avs potential to go for a winger as well. So that’s why I made this.
