Rangers say woof....way to much for a 3C. Maybe Vancouver would do that trade giving up similar assets?

I cant speak to the value since i dont know the players on the rangers side of this deal, but I can tell you the optics of it for buffalo are bad.

Can't trade a top six forward for picks and prospects on the heels of missing for a 13th straight year. I think theres a small chance he gets moved if theres a contractual dispute/stalemate, but it will almost certainly be for an NHLer

I was having a tough time figuring value for Mitellstadt. He is having a pretty good year, has comparable stats with Chytil and is only 25 and he would be an RFA for us next year. I like Henrique as a low cost 3C rental but Mitellstadt would fill the void in the event that Chytil is not able to come back from this concussion next year.

Pretty sure the Sabres would decline. Casey is pacing for 70 points, has good analytics, and by the eye test has been one of the best Sabres this season. That is not by any measure a 3C.

I'd move him for a piece that we are missing, adding if need be. It's something we should do. There's definitely room for players that can play defense (forwards and defense) and you could add a few more guys to play a gritty game. The only pieces of interest here would be the picks, and the Sabres can't afford to move players for futures at this point. So, I would say no, just because it's futures, and we need help now. The reality is- as long as the Sabres can avoid any egregious losing streaks, our owner won't fire our gm, and if he stays, the path of least resistance is to sign mittelstadt and try to run it back again.

I’m all aboard the Henrique train. Probably wouldn’t cost so much and he’s purely a rental

Sabres aren’t looking to trade Mitts, so to make it happen (in real life), i think it’s safe to assume we’d want something u don’t wanna give up (think Schneider)

It would probably be a hard deal to pull off though,
bc i doubt we’d be interested in “futures”
We’d want player(s) that help us win now, & are young enough to fit into our core- which obviously u guys wouldn’t wanna give up

Probably more likely u look at a “rental” type player u can get for draft picks

If Buffalo is going to trade Mittelstadt, they are not going to give him up for more futures. The Rangers don’t have many prospects that Buffalo doesn’t already have better in their own system. I agree that it would probably cost you someone like Schneider just to have a chance to make the deal. The Rangers just don’t have a roster forward that fills a need for Buffalo that would otherwise make it work.

Easy pass. Mitts is not a fit, overpaying his next term would be like signing Strome. Especially for a 1st+. Garand stays. Need a cheaper fit.

And you enjoy missing the playoffs for what year in a row now? It's hysterical when a Buffalo fan talks about another teams playoff failures.

The Sabres failures have nothing to do with you not knowing wtf you’re talking about
U say crap like “keep” Mitts, while u make an ACGM suggesting that Tyler Johnson is your 3C fix ! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Just to the Ranger fans on this post.
Casey is better than Newhook who returned the 31st and 37th OA.
Because he is a center and plays a 200 foot game, he has a value close to Brandon Hagel who returned Raddysh. 2023 19th OA, and a 2024 first round picks.
So you all may not like it, but the value for Casey is two first round picks and a roster player.
That sounds like Braden Schneider needs to be in the deal to me.

All of this is moot as Casey is an RFA and will be signed or traded for a young RHD (i.e. Schneider)

Zero chance you get Schneider. Maybe someone lesser from another team or a pick that can turn into a Schneider, from another team.

All I said was keep him at that price, which is 3x's what it would take to get Johnson, so maybe know what you're talking about before making as as s of yourself, if that is possible. Enjoy watching the Rangers in the playoffs again. LMFAO.

Rangers would just hang up the minute Schneider's name was mentioned. Keep him at that cost.

The Rangers would do backflips to be out from under Trouba’s contract. Miller would make more sense just from that perspective alone.

Nothing here makes sense. Rangers would nose dive without Trouba. Miller is another dream.
