Avs decline. We need a 2C. Once we get that check back with us in the offseason.

Preds decline right now. In a wild card spot at the moment and I'm guessing there would be a team out there willing to give more.

That being said, a former 9th overall draft pick and another pick that would be top 15 is very intriguing.

Preds would be foolish not to take it even now. Saros is great, but he’ll be retired before Matt Savoie hits his prime.
Consider that you’re also getting a relatively high first round pick too, it should be an no-brainer.

Colorado isn't trading Manson for a runt, the reason you want to swap Jokiharju for Manson is the reason Colorado declines.

Why does Manson waive to come to Buffalo. And if we are doing this and he does waive. They need a 2C, how about Mitts for Manson and a pick

Are you nuts @greysuits?
We don’t need to be bringing in 32yr old defensemen who have lost a step
And we sure as hell shouldn’t OVERPAY for a guy like that !
Wow! Bad idea imo

Wanna swap him for Clifton?
I’d listen to that idea- but i wouldn’t expect him to be the “fix” for our top4

Jokiharju has been one of our better defensemen this year though & i wouldn’t trade him for Manson straight up now, let alone include Rosen
And it’s insane to consider shipping out Mitts for him

If we are giving up assets like that,
then we should be getting a good player about 5yrs younger

I would disagree with this. IMO, Savoie is the type of player that NSH has been looking for, and with a 1st involved as well I'd be willing to bite on this for Saros. I'd rather have a future 1-2 down the middle of Savoie/Svechkov that will need some more development time, but end up coming up around the same time as Askarov than fight for wild card spots now.

In 2 years time, we could have a top 9 that looks something like
Forsberg - ROR - Kemell
Parssinen - Savoie - Evangelista
Novak - Svechkov - Tomasino

This would be the situation in 25-26 with Wood, L'Heuruex, and Afanaseyev all being options as well. There is a lot that can change in that amount of time, like the fact that Glass, Sissons, and Trenin are all not accounted for here, but this is an option

Yes a Dman that's a positive on one of the best Skating teams in the league wouldn’t fit on a Team that's supposed to be Built on skating.

Have u ever watched Manson play?
He’s not at all a “good skater”
He’s getting old & beat up and could easily become the next Erik Johnson

A player like him- BUT about 5yrs younger- would be a good fit
Manson though…. not so much

I would love someone 5 years younger, and really hope they find one. Joker isn't signed and unfortunately we can't extend everyone. Basically think he would be a good Mentor for Power and could lead into Strbak in a few years.

I don’t see why we can’t sign Jokiharju
Don’t think he’ll cost a ton

Ideally, moving forward I’d love to see something like:
Samuelsson-Dahlin
Power- (legit top4 guy)
R.Johnson-Jokiharju

I just want that Top4 guy to be better than Clifton or Manson,
they’re essentially the same guy imo
I don’t think Power needs an AllStar partner like your boy Anderson, but i do wanna see better (and younger) than Manson as well

Strbak is years away still
I’m not projecting his role until he develops more & is closer to playing in the NHL

Don't consider Manson a All Star Partner, I consider him a good Vet Dman that can Teach Power the game at a reasonable price for a couple years. Off course I want better, but Adams and Company haven't proven to be able to do that. And IMO Samuelsson isn't a top pair Dman and his numbers with Dahlin aren't that good.

The Sabres would need to have some protection on that pick. Even if it's top 5 protected. Imagine you are the gm that traded a top 5 pick for a goalie to play one full season, coming off of a season where they were bad enough to get a top 5 pick. It would be a fireable offense, or it least it would if Terry wasn't asleep at the switch.

I didn’t say Manson was an AllStar, i was referring to your boy Anderson
The point i was trying to make is that we can (hopefully) find a “happy medium” somewhere in between those two

Samuelsson has regressed a bit this year, but he was good last year with Dahlin- i have faith he can get back to form

And i don’t think Manson is much better than Clifton or Samuelsson
Again, we need better than him imo

Foolish is wrong. I'll agree we consider it, but I still think we don't do it. Not where we are in the standings. Juuse has a solid ~7 more years in him. We aren't in a hurry to trade him unless we get something REALLY solid back.

If the first is unprotected then I almost like it more than I like Savoie. Savoie is coming off a weak WJC and hasn't taken a huge step forward since his draft year. He's a 5' 9" forward that hasn't shown quite the upside you'd want to see out of a short forward drafted in the top 10. Not that you'd trade him, but I'd much rather have a Zach Benson. Drafted 13th overall but has WAY more upside than Savoie.

If we deal Saros I think we gotta get a sure-fire piece coming back. I think about a guy like Brandt Clarke from the Kings. They have plenty of prospects and he solves a HUGE need for the Preds, a puck-moving RHD with superstar upside.

I hear you, which is why I say its intriguing. But its not enough to get Saros right now. It might be if we really slow down or if it becomes clear he doesn't want to resign. I think this is a solid proposal but it probably gets outbid. Plus, I REALLY don't think Trotz is looking for a 5' 9" center who isn't putting up superstar numbers...
