Couture for DeBrusk Grzelcyk and Lysell

Created by: Connor_McJesus_97
Team: 2023-24 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 2, 2024
Published: Jan. 2, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Bruins gets rid of a capdump and a player who hasn’t produced nearlt enough in DeBrusk. I think DeBrusk has a great oppurtunity here next year if he resigns. If he gets to play with either Hertl, Eklund or Smith this looks good for him. Boston basically swaps a good prospect in Lysell for a veteran in Couture who is good in the playoffs to try to go for it now.

I have to think Boston wouldn’t have anything to do with that deal!

I like Couture the player, but I’m not taking the back half of that contract at his age when I can sign a free agent with the same money without the age issue. 35 to 38 is not a time where you are paying a player $8m AAV

San Jose should be offering up Hertl as opposed to Couture

Ya… easy no.

Take out Debrusk and Lysell, retain 50% on Logan…Boston still says no. But more realistic. Having multiple years of term left is going to be very tough to move him.

For Hertl sharks want 2 1sts and a prospect.
He’s the next C and a huge part of our rebuild.

If FA’s don’t work out, I’d consider Lysell and a first in the offseason. Don’t think we will need to go there

For those thinking the Providence coach is down on Lysell, look at his most recent comments. Lysell has been lights out since the comments.

I wouldn’t give much for Brad Marchand at his age. Similar for Couture.

A soon to be 35yr whose missed the entire season so far due to a lower body injury that he himself thought might end his career.....not thanks. He's an $8 million hit for 3 more years and likely won't finish out his contract while actually playing.

DeBrusk is going nowhere this year. The Bruins, as a probable playoff team, need him this year. He's a streaky scorer who will have a great opportunity again next year in Boston if he resigns.

Lysell is going nowhere this year. He will be in Boston next year playing on his ELC. Enough said.

Boston does not have to dump Grzelcyk. He provides depth and service to what should be a playoff team. If he is moved it will be for draft capital.

Couture has negative trade value... you will not be getting assets in return for him.
