At 8 years, I think you should be able to get Willy closer to 10 million

I don’t think there’s that much difference in value between Weegar and Chabot

I can't see why Calgary would turn this down. That is a huge package for Weegar.

Sorry trading for a players rights, Doesn't mean you can offer them 8 years. All it means is that you've first dibs to sign him ahead of free agency.

William Nylander would need to be traded at the trade deadline to offer 8 years.

I just can't convince myself adding that much to a Chabot/Weegar trade makes sense. I wonder if there's anything to be built around something like Chabot+ Batherson for Weegar + Coleman. Coleman would fit the mold of what Ottawa's apparently looking to add

I’m going to get destroyed for this comment but I’d like to see Tyler Boucher over MacEwen. I haven’t given up on him eventually being a RW on a Tkachuck line like they had originally planned lol.

It's fine not to have given up on him, but expecting him to play in the NHL at any point this season is just beyond unreasonable. He was drafted three years ago, and he's played fewer than 70 games since being drafted, with just 6 pro games under his belt. He needs minutes in a development focused league.

I still feel like he brings more to the table than MacEwen.

When I watched this guy at 67’s games I couldn’t believe how good he was. Perfect linemate to Brady eventually to shut down whatever top line you want physically. I know he needs some time in Belleville, I hope he develops. I always respect your opinions Claesson4Norris though btw.

maybe a hot take, but kastelic is by far the worst player on the 4th line

He's gotta show he's built for that life first, though. I think he's got the skillset to be an effective 4th liner, but he just has not played. He's gotta show he can a) be effective as a pro player and b) hold up physically over a full season of play. Personally, unless he suddenly becomes so obviously ready that you can't ignore it, I'm not even looking at him until training camp. That said, there's probably about a dozen players on a mediocre BSens team who are better than MacEwen.

The whole bottom six could use a significant overhaul. Joseph and Pinto being back soon drastically changes the face of things, but right now the only ones I care a lick about are Greig and Crookshank.

yep, crookshaks been a breath of fresh air for the bottom 6. I love Greigs upside in the middle 6 though, plays such a good style of hockey

That's fair but I'd still say top 30 more likely

Sportsnet and TSN both say the Leafs and Willy are close on a deal.

But then again, Ohtani to the Jays …. Don’t know if anyone’s a baseball fan lol.
