Kampf has negative value at this point. You don't get paid to trade him. You pay someone to take him.

Bertuzzi will not be taking such a paycut so lose Bertuzzi and keep Kampf.

Marner will need a bounce back season during his contract year. If Nylander out preforms him in back to back seasons, Mitch may have to accept the same contract as Nylander (very unlikely).

He's going to have to play a lot better to get that kind of money. Right now, Willy is the better player. Asking for more than he's getting is going to be tough. He needs a much better second half and playoffs. If he has a bad playoffs, I imagine he may get traded anyways.

Except Marner has Tre already backed into a corner on negotiations. Nylander only had a 10 team NTC, he could have been traded off if he spooked Tre on price, but Tre folded. Marner has a full NMC. He could, out of spite for low balling him, intentionally drag the negotiations to FA to ensure Toronto gets nothing if he so chooses.

I do think the Leafs paid top dollar for Nylander. Can't think of any "contending" team that would offer as much. Plus the eight years is kinda crazy since other teams could only offer seven years.

It’s funny because all these Leaf ACGM’s think everyone we get will take less than their value to play in Toronto. Gonna be cap hell for the next while, trying to find quality depth and D for cheap.
