And Matthews should 100% be on this list IMO but that's a part of why this list is weird

interesting for sure.

unfortunaly only kopitar, barkov and couturier have a shot, because selke is an award based on reputation, being a center, +/- and having at least 60 points pace.

reinhart is a winger, suzuki has bad +/- and doesnt have the reputation.

im not.saying they dont deserve it, im just saying thats how the award works (its voted by journalist who have no clues)

Last year someone gave a vote to eric staal for the selke because he got him mixed up with jordan staal. you cant make this up.

i would bet money he loses it, not because he doesnt deserve it, but because the journalist voting for the awards have no clue.

The 60-point threshold is absolutely stupid... it has not impact on your ability to play defense

I would too... plus they also give a lot more love to guys in bigger markets which Raleigh is certainly not

yep, i think its stupid, i really dont like the selke award anymore. The vote for guys who don't even kill penalities.

Barkov isn't even the fifth-best defensive forward and he's already been anointed the successor of Bergeron

Selke is about 2-way game. Yes there are better defensive forwards but none of them come close to the offense he also provides.

That's not what the award is supposed to be... it's supposed to be about defensive forwards. I would give Reinhart, Staal, Martinook, Fast, and McLeod the Selke before Barkov

Oh 3 Hurricanes players? Shocking

The award has been for best 2-way player for a very long time now. If that angers you so much then message the League.

Also Suzuki has been better than all those players defensively this year lol
