I could see this happening

Initial Creation Date: Jan. 9, 2024
Published: Jan. 9, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The more I think about it the more I think there is a chance Dubas deals Guentzel while also still trying to contend. It seems like one of those situations where the team is gearing for a playoff push and should buy, but Guentzel will probably not re-sign and it is too good of a trade to pass up.

Overall it really feels like this will be a big TDL one way or another. Feels like a lot of trades will be made.

I think the Jake offer is light
Id love bunting but dont think the canes move him if they dont have to, they like him there.
I personally dont want to spend a 2nd to get zucker back.

I think they could add a little more to the Jake offer. Another good prospect. Bunting I think would be one of Dubas' choices to replace Guentzel and I feel like he is the type of player the team needs. Don't know what Carolina thinks, but I saw his name as a potential trade candidate. And I think we should avoid trading any 1sts and 2nds if possible. But I'd be open to dealing a 2nd or 3rd for a 3rd line player. Open to any player there that could step in and help.

I think they only move him for goalie help. If it were bunting and maybe a pick for smith and ned it might be possible

Yeah I could see that. Which would be tough, I don't think I'd move Ned at the deadline unless we were selling.

I dont want to lose him either I really like the tandem. However we do need to think about acquiring assets - it will shorten a rebuild

Why would Carolina do this? Bunting is drastically outproducing Smith... Bunting's been very good for Carolina, there's 0 reason to move him. This is a made up narrative because he plays on the fourth line

Agree with you on that. I've been thinking selling and starting rebuild is the best approach, but I'm starting to come around to the idea of trying to contend this playoffs with how we've been recently. Given that we are close to a rebuild though, I think we might have no choice but to trade Guentzel regardless of which approach we take

I think we need to trade him, we cant lose him for nothing. That line is so dominate though which makes it hard. Id be fine selling him and spending those picks on younger players so we can still compete. Too many moves effects chemistry though

So a guy who plays on the 4th line and has gotten PP1 to become elite over the last month, and is scoring at a 50-60 point pace, needs a change of scenery? Not sure I understand that narrative.
