Can’t see the flames wasting a retention slot on markstrom (especially for that return). They would likely retain on hanifan, tanev, and lindholm to maximize returns this year

If Calgary trades Lindholm the would likely want Mercer coming back because they will have a hole down the middle of the line up. I don't see them retaining on Markstrom for the remainder of his contract.

I would also assume NJ would want clearance to speak with Hangings agent prior to the trade so they could reasonably be assured they could resign him.

Calgary fans wanted a 1st+ for Tofolli....and a 1st for Zadorov....

Hanifin will cost about a late 1st (which we don't have currently....we have only the rotten middle 1st) and 3rd

First of all, I still think Toffoli was worth a first. We gave up a 1st + Heinemen(2nd) + 5th for 2.5 years of Toff, then sold 1 of them. I just think that Conroy valued Sharangovich like a first round pick, which in hindsight was a pretty good trade for us.

I kept saying that Zadorov was worth a 2nd, I guess I was slightly off with it being a 3rd + 5th.

As for Hanifin, I think that H. Lindholm is a decent comparable for a trade value. We'll see at the deadline.

Hanifin = Lindholm (minus Moore and two 2nds).

I think he gets a late 1st and older prospect (or late 1st and 3rd).
But using that comp is tough as people often ignore the cost of $8m cap that was dumped on Anaheim (during flat cap).

No freaking way is Craig Conroy retaining $2,000,000 x 2.25 years on Jacob Markstrom. He more than likely retains on Tanev, Hanifin and Lindholm.

I doubt BOS does that deal, theyd move Ullmark before Sway, and theyd have to get a kings ransom to consider moving Sway. While Mercer would be nice, its not enough to trade Sway

While Hanafin and Markstrom migh solve temporary problems this szn, its hard to see them as long term solutions, especially Markstrom and considering the D core NJ has lined up. So Markstrom isnt really the answer and assuming Hanafins a rental, Id prob decline if im NJ.

Also dont think CGY would retain 2mill per year for 3 years on Markstrom
