I feel like CGY is ripping off NJ, and BOS is ripping off CGY.

I don’t think Boston does that deal. Frederic has emerged as a very good role power forward and he’s a player who is going to be a hard valuation comparison.

Lindholm’s next contract is a consideration. I’d rather throw another second rounder and Grz (remove retention) than Frederic if we pursue him at all.

Agreed - if I am Sweens, I am trying to lock up Frederic long-term this offseason before his price goes up significantly. Do you think he would sign a deal around $5M AAV?

Agreed New Jersey doesn't even consider that for a second

He’s really shown last year was not a fluke. I personally put him opposite Pasta/Zacha and see what he can do. I think that’s going to be the right price.

There's not a single player on your roster rn worth Nemec and very few worth Mercer 1 for 1. We'll keep our guys

With their current contract situations, that is likely to be true even though I see players on Calgary’s current roster that are better player

I probably disagree a tad with the NJ Devils fans valuing players beyond their unrestricted free agent years (as full value). At that point, Mercer and Nemec haven’t differentiated themselves to the point where you think they are going to be plus players over their salary at that point. They do look like they have the potential to do just that, but I wouldn’t view it as a given

Nemec is the best player in this deal today imo, even excluding contract and age

Nemec’s already playing fantastic hockey on the top pair for NJD.

Wouldn’t even remotely consider Nemec in that deal.

There’s no trade in the NHL that makes sense for Nemec.

Even a Quinn Hughes deal (the only one he’d even potentially be on the table for), wouldn’t make sense to move Nemec instead of Dougie+++++++

How bad is Ullmarks injury btw? It looked nasty from the way he went down

My guess at that point, it wouldn’t be your choice on whom to include (Quinn is fricking great). ++++++ would probably include Nemec.

When you hit on a young player who looks to be over expected value even pass his free agent year, it’s the holy grail. That’s why the Anaheim/Philly deal was so fascinating.

Still waiting to get a final determination. I think Montgomery’s media call is happening now

Edited: not at morning skate, but being listed as day to day. Hoping it was a bad cramp from a sudden movement.

My offer on Quinn would have been (if healthy and willing to waive)

Dougie:

Then some combination of 1sts, Casey, Holtz, Siegenthaler Marino, Mercer, other picks+other prospects.

Dougie+Mercer+1st+Casey maybe. An absolute haul but no Nemec.

Luke and Quinn are the offensive guys which would mean no room for dougie.

Would leave:
Quinn-Nemec
Luke-Marino
Siegs-veteran
Bahl

Even most devils fans weren’t expecting Nemec to be this good out of the gate. Luke has more long term upside and has also been fantastic this year, but Nemec has been somehow better at least imo

Good to know on Ullmark. Looking back I may have been a bit unreasonable on his value. And bruins fans have been much more reasonable on him than any other fanbase has on a goalie
